East African Community Feedstock Study
Project Gaia has recently completed an East African feedstock study for UNIDO. This study has relied on local consultants to provide information on Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda. Information includes an extensive list of available feedstocks in these countries as well as recommendations for what should be done to maximize ethanol production. 
Addis Ababa Distillery
On October 8th Project Gaia and its partners, Gaia Association, the Former Women’s Fuelwood Association (FWFCA), Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), and the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) inaugurated an ethanol micro distillery in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This inauguration has signaled the arrival of a new frontier for clean energy in the area, especially considering the large amount of support that it has from local people, government officials, and international organizations. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting project and the positive impacts it has on Addis Ababa.

Humanitarian Workshop on October 15, 2015

This workshop highlighted Gaia Association and partners' work in providing ethanol fuel and cookstoves for Somali refugees in Ethiopia. Beneficiaries presented on their experience cooking on ethanol for the last ten years and stakeholders weighed in with their personal experiences with ethanol. Some key highlights included the safety and popularity of the CLEANCOOK stove, the Ethiopian government's support for the project, and the possibility of expanding the program to other refugee camps, Kenya, and Djibouti.
In addition to exciting news from the field, there are also a few updates concerning our organization, employees, and pursuits that we want to share with you!
Welcome our new team member- Alex Milano! You may remember Alex from her previous internship at Project Gaia! Alex has recently receive her M.S. in Social Development Practice at University College London. We are extremely excited to have her and are sure that she will do wonderful work while with us. Winrock Ethanol Webinar: Brady, Dan, and Hilary spoke on the Winrock and EPA sponsored webinar on the benefits, key challenges, and lessons learned from cooking with ethanol. See a video of the webinar here.
Starstove Video: Check out CLEANCOOK's new video on a new concept for stoves in the developing world. This stove will use highly automated production, optimize logistics, and local assembly to create lower prices and local employment. Check out their video here.

CLEANCOOK AB Website: Check out CLEANCOOK's new website. CLEANCOOK AB has been a long time partner of Project Gaia and, in addition to manufacturing the CLEANCOOK Nova 1 and 2, are involved in the promotion of ethanol fuels and Research and Development of new products.
