Friends, there is so much happening right now. The restaurant community is abuzz with the thought of possibly opening doors to the public at some point in the near future. This remains an extremely complicated issue, and I certainly will have something to say about what Craigie on Main will provide in the next phase. For now I just want to reiterate our commitment to cooking for you, providing healthy and satisfying meals with the very best ingredients, in the safest conditions possible. We continue to fine tune our protocols inside the restaurant in order to insure everyone’s health and safety - our staff, our venders, and of course all of you.
The most remarkable change this week has been related not to the Governor’s re-opening plans, but some incredibly gorgeous weather that has enabled us to get outside!!! Longer bike rides, early morning batting practice with Charlie, even the late night dog walks have been a welcome relief from the grind we endure every day. What used to be a chore is now a cathartic and relaxing release.
Last week I asked our small, dedicated staff to allow ourselves to move beyond the first eight weeks of the pandemic. Let’s get out of the mindset of chaos, move away from the emergency mode and accept our new reality, one that will continue to shape our restaurant for many months to come. We worked our tails off to keep our doors open and created a brand new restaurant on the fly. What a crazy ride! And simply an incredible accomplishment -- I could not be more proud of the Craigie team and everyone in the Craigie community who supported us. Thank you and we will continue to be here for you!
Now we will commit to evolve the Craigie on Main takeout restaurant to better serve all of you. You have been patient and kept on coming back for more. We will focus on the next eight weeks, with a goal to fine tune the operation. We have so appreciated your feedback, and we welcome any more thoughts you might have. I’m looking forward to focusing our creativity on improved systems and inspired meals using the best our farmers have to offer. We will meet the challenges in a forward thinking mentality, always expected from us at Craigie on Main.
We have some specials for you this weekend - a few additions to our take-away menu as well as some “kits” for the grill that you can pick up on Sunday for Memorial Day.
And, we tossed a new version of the “Chef's Whim” into the mix last week and we will continue this incredible value surprise meal on Sundays moving forward. However, in the new normal we will need to limit the amount of Whim orders each Sunday.
Starting at noon Sundays moving forward, you will be able to order a WHIM dinner. This will be first come, fist served and there will be a hard cut off on dinners available.
I am so thrilled to be able to bring the Chef’s Whim back into the Craigie on Main operation.
