Freedom: Fights for Rights
What a month we had!  Since we've talked to you last, a lot has been going on.  Besides just generally enjoying summer, we held our DPDX Power Edition that was energizing and affirming.  We also launched a lipgloss line.  Yes! You heard right. More on that below.  This month, we also celebrated Independence Day.  This year's holiday had us reflecting not only on our country's freedom and independence, but the notion of personal independence throughout society.

This past April, the world watched in horror as 273 Nigerian school girls lost their freedom. Kidnapped by terrorists from their school campus, these young girls were forcibly torn away from personal and societal freedoms.  230 have still not been rescued. The Bring Back Our Girls campaign
( is a community of concerned activists and community members dedicated to keeping up awareness for the young girls and ultimately aiding in their return. Use #bringbackourgirls continuously to help inform your networks about the status of the girls and the movement.

All over the world, people are fighting for freedom.  From the conflict at the Gaza Strip, to children immigrants here in the United States, folks are fighting to defend what independence means for them.  What does freedom mean to you?  How does your freedom shape your experience with this world and with yourself?  Do you feel like you are fighting too?

Stay engaged with our Facebook page as we bring awareness to current events happening all over the globe.  Like our page and join in the conversation!  Learn more about all of our campaign work online as well at

Get to Know Us! + Affirmations
This month, we asked the L&H leadership class to share their personal affirmations with us on how freedom is expressed in their lives.

Why affirmations?  Intentionally choosing positive, self-affirming thoughts help train the mind into healthy habits and attract positivity into your life!
I release all fears of not being perfect. I am good enough. I am perfect in my own way. I let go of all expectations. I am free to live the life I've dreamed. I let go of the need to help others. I allow others to make their own way.
I forgive myself.  I have the grace to forgive others because I am worthy and they are too.
Breathing in, I calm my body. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in this present moment, I know this is a wonderful moment.

I am more than enough. I am worthy of all great things.

Feed what feeds my soul. No longer the martyr.
Everything I need will come to me at the right time and place in this life.

I am created in my Father's image. I am His beloved daughter. He qualifies me in every aspect of my life. I am more than enough!

I am happy.
