These people are all enjoying a Vida Clown Show at Gracia del Calvario's
six year anniversary.
For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.”   Jer. 29:11

Jose Luis and I would like to say “thank you” to all of you who pray for this ministry and for our faithful and generous partners.  It is a humbling privilege to serve in Mexico and represent many of you who continually fund the ministry. You are a continual source of joy and encouragement to us as you pray and give so faithfully.

Christmas was more challenging than usual as I broke my ankle and was in a cast/boot for 7 weeks.  This meant that I had to sit and let others “DO”.  It was wonderful to see the gals at Gracia del Calvario take the reins and put on the Christmas parties, gift giving, etc. for the kids with very little supervision.  The kids were blessed with gifts from North Coast Calvary Chapel, Sketchers Shoes and St. Mary’s School in Escondido.  In total, over 450 gifts were received for the lunch kitchen kids, all the church kids and a ministry to the poor in Rosarito.  Thank you to the Struska family for taking so many toys and shoes across the border for us when I was not able to drive!  Sketchers also donated more than 170 pairs of shoes and all the church families received at least 3 pairs of tennies.

Distributing donations is not easy.  Some people are humble; others are greedy and the needs are different.  We use a system that favors those who are faithful in serving, attending and have need.  Our volunteer team serves with all their heart and most have several kids.  Some moms are working all night in the factory for less than $1.00 per hour.  The blessings that are provided through the school program, lunch kitchens and donations of clothing, shoes and gifts is such a help to these struggling, hard working families.

Conflict Resolution is the topic of our Women’s Bible Study.  Cindy Cunningham (in the blue) has been serving with us for well over a year.  Cindy comes with a counseling background, specializing in domestic violence and is a qualified translator, teacher and awesome friend.  Cindy C. has also helped our people get birth registrations so that they or their children can attend school.  This is a difficult and sometimes lengthy process for people who have never been registered and Cindy’s expertise and diligence help make a difference in the lives of many.  Cindy C. serves as a volunteer and if you feel led to help support the ministry that she is doing you can send a special gift and mark it for the counseling ministry.

On January 16th, Gracia del Calvario church celebrated 6 years!  Jose Luis is teaching, training leaders and working on the building and our house.  The rain brings lots of leaks and problems at both locations as well as transportation challenges.  He is a wonderful servant, father and husband and we are all thankful for him.

Please keep praying for Javier’s entry to the U.S. as his Mexican passport has been delayed for five months due to my name change.  Thank you for standing with us!  May Jesus be glorified!
