Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so.”  Proverbs 3:27
Merry Christmas from the Pesina Family and
Grace of Calvary Ministries!

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so.”  Proverbs 3:27

Have you read this verse?  Who gives us the power?  God does of course!  But we also give thanks with all of our hearts to the many people and ministries who have helped us to live out this verse in Tijuana, Mexico!  We are so blessed to serve in ministry here and pastor the Gracia del Calvario church in Tijuana.  Jesus is the meaning of Christmas isn't He!   "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."  John 10:10

My phone rang at 5 am and I answered to the sound of “my house is burning” and hysterical crying.  It was my friend Rita, who is the director of our lunch kitchen #3.  On November 7, fire ripped through Manzana 26 of Colonia Antorchista, destroying 32 small, humble homes and leaving more than 150 people homeless.  These people where living in extreme poverty as it was and five of the families attend our church.  Now what?  Most are staying with their neighbors in their one room houses and the government has been dropping off particle board and aluminum sheets to make shelters that look like tool sheds.  Many of you have responded to the need and we have been blessed to see God working in the hearts of the fire victims as they turn to God knowing that He is all they really have anyhow!  Fortunately, no people were hurt by the fire.  I have also seen that in tragedy, Mexicans pull together and help each other.  There has been food to eat at the emergency kitchen and we are still providing for the kids lunches daily.

This year we have been reaching the lost, discipling and training future leaders, feeding children, providing medical supplies, helping many children to go school with backpacks, supplies and uniforms, blessing an orphanage of 40 kids and hosting many weekend missions trips from our supporting churches.  Raising godly leaders and seeing lives transformed through Jesus Christ!  The vision is bigger than ever and the fruit has been abundant!  Your gifts make all of this possible!
2014 Highlights:
  • Men’s ministry has tripled and the men are serving in the church!
  • The building is slowly but surely coming along – target date Spring 2015
  • Children’s ministry is staffed by wonderful, local volunteers every service
  • 175 kids get a hot lunch every school day at three locations
  • The “Children’s Park” is complete and full of happy kids every day.  This is our first big community service project completed by several San Diego churches.
  • 11 people were baptized at our all church bar-b-q & baptism at the Tecate pools
  • Sunday services are regularly attended by almost 150 people and we are praying for how to have two Sunday services.
  • More than 400 kids were provided uniforms and/or backpacks with school supplies
  • The start-up of our own non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation:   GRACE OF CALVARY MINISTRIES
Prayer Requests:
  • Building and finances – we need about $5,000 to finish the exterior of a basic concrete block building, retaining walls and ramp.  This amount of work is needed before a YUGO ministry team can come to construct the building and roof.  That team plans to contribute $15,000.  We are overflowing in all areas and it would be such a blessing to have the large building constructed.
  • Monthly needs – God has provided in amazing ways and we are so thankful to all of our generous and faithful supporters.  As the ministry grows, so do the expenses.  Please consider making a year-end gift to this ministry or becoming a monthly supporter of the Pesina Family through YUGO.
  • Pray that we would be a light in a dark area.  There have been fires, sickness, drugs, gossip, jealousy, etc. but we know that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world – 1 John 4:4.  We also know who will win in the end.
  • Our women’s bible study is “Breaking Free” and using Beth Moore’s book.  Pray that the women will receive healing from the abuse and extreme conditions that most have suffered.
  • Administrative help for me, especially bookkeeping.  I hope to focus more on teaching and  ministering.  I also need to visit churches and friends to share about the ministry opportunities.  A bi-lingual person, strong in bookkeeping would allow me to operate more in these areas and hopefully see more ministry partners in 2015.
  • We have great hopes that Javier’s adoption will be completed soon and that we can begin the 10 month process of getting his U.S.A. citizenship.  Jose Luis is also working on his citizenship and trying to learn U.S. history in English!
If you would like to make a year end or any other ministry donation:
Have a Blessed and Beautiful Christ-mas and a Feliz New Year!  All to the Glory of God!
Cindy, Jose Luis and Javier Pesina
