"I will give you every place where you set your foot" Joshua 1:3

I can’t believe it has been two months since I have written. We left off before Christmas and now, Feb. will soon be here. With much to share I would like to touch on a few headlines.
Christmas was beautiful with over 100 kids receiving gifts at our church, 50 of our kids went to a celebration at a local Walmart and all received gifts and a private party. Another 50 kids in the colonia Antorchista received sock hats, mittens and socks to keep warm. All were so appreciative and a big THANK YOU to all who helped make this possible. The kids at the orphanages received new hoody sweatshirts, tamale party, chicken, turkeys, pinatas and the works. EVERYONE focused on why we celebrate Christmas and who Jesus is. We had about 140 people attend our CCVDV Christmas program with clowns. On Christmas Eve, our own VDV kids put on a program. The CCVDV Women’s ministry had a Pozole Party and everyone served each other. By the time Christmas day arrived, we and the boys had a quiet Christmas enjoying each other and a few gifts.
We purchased a lot for the church! After sending a request for prayers regarding the purchase of a 201 square meter lot close to our current rented building, within 12 hours the money was provided to purchase the land! Please pray with us to see how God will provide the building and classrooms so we can move the church, hopefully by the summer. The current building has some serious building flaws and a high price and our contract is up this year. The new location is closer to the soccer park, schools and has a lot of foot traffic. We have dedicated this land as a Christian ministry location that will outlive us.
Vounteer Staff - I would like to feature one of our servers each month so you can get to know the people that come alongside us. Miguel & Gaby Ojeda are a young couple who serve as youth and young adult leaders at Calvary Chapel Rosarito. On Miguel’s personal time, they go out with about 15 other people (and their 8 month baby girl) to help with the Sunday evening service in Vista del Valle. Miguel does the preaching/teaching once a month and serves in an assistant pastor role position when he is there. It is our hope to have Miguel serve in VDV more and in order to have him one more day a week, we need to pay him $100 a month ($25 per day incl. gas). He currently receives no salary from us but works six days a week for C.C. Rosarito. If you would like to help sponsor Miguel, please let us know.
Weddings - we have five couples at CCVDV who are living together and have children together and have expressed an interest in getting legally and spiritually married. Tijuana offers a large, free, group wedding in February each year and with the help of others we are hoping that all five can be married! This will also strengthen our men’s ministry and help all of them to grow spiritually. Please pray for God to be glorified in this. If you would like to sponsor any of the church weddings we need $100 per couple for cake, coffee, punch and wedding supplies. (two couples have sponsors)
Antorchista is a new community 2 miles from Vista del Valle where people of low resources can purchase a small lot and pay monthly. The community sprung up in three months with over 650 families, most living in small shacks made out of garage doors or scrap wood. Our van picks up several families twice per week and brings them to Vista del Valle for bible study and Sunday service. We did a small outreach with the kids last week with hot chocolate and coloring books a bible study and a few mittens. The kids hugged us and thanked us and were truly grateful for our small act of love. This is the kind of stuff I love! A small team also put a roof on one of the shacks and that family is so happy to not be wet and cold as temperatures there have been below freezing every night.
Teaching in Spanish - the Lord has given me a passion to teach the women the basics that I learned many years ago on how to walk with Jesus, what it means to be a Christian woman, how to pray for their kids and how to keep our minds set on the things of God. It is beautiful how God can give us His heart until we want what He wants!
The calendar for Spring is filling up quickly so please reserve your groups three months in advance if possible and consider coming for a whole week and staying at the YUGO ROC (www.yugo.org). You can still work with us and have an awesome missions trip with speakers, worship and serving. The ROC is open year around and summer fills up quickly.
Christopher started a two year high school program and if he studies hard, he can graduate in December 2014! Javier turned 9 and continues to love life and is learning daily. No news on the adoption.
The Lord has been very generous to this ministry through all of you. You make it possible for us to serve in the calling God has given us. The Pesinas and many others are eternally grateful for your partnership and pray that you have a Prosperous 2013. Exodus 33:19b I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
To God be the glory and may we love Him with our whole heart, soul and mind,
