Serve the Lord with gladness!
Looking back - moving ahead ...
Tis the season to be jolly, fa-la-la-la-la-la …. “Serve the Lord with gladness! Come before His presence with singing!” Psalm 100:2 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Pesina Family!
Growing a church, discipling and training, sharing the gospel, feeding the hungry, providing school supplies and uniforms, praying with many and seeing lives changed and dedicated to Jesus! You make this possible! Thank you to the many people who have come to Mexico to serve with us this year and helped make these things happen. Thank you to those who have prayed, those who have given time and money, “serving the Lord with gladness!”
2013 was a growing year. We have a three year old named Gracia del Calvario. She (the church) is a joy and a lot of work. She (GDC) is a light in a dark place. She is busting at the seams. I remember one day when only 8 adults showed up for the Sunday service. I said “that’s it, I give up, I can’t do this anymore”. And God said “I can, move out of the way Cindy.” The church has been full ever since that day with over 100 people each service!
Vanesa (named changed) came to one service and told me about the problems she is having with her husband and her kids. All I could think is “this lady needs Jesus!” Then we had a big youth concert and one person stood up to receive Jesus - yes it was her! Within two weeks her husband checked into a Christian drug rehab, we starting having weekly bible study outside in her yard and she was blessed with a new 16’ x 20’ house. Please pray that her husband will keep strong with Jesus and stay clean. We have so many stories like this to share with you.
We are very thankful for our staff at GDC. Guadalupe serves from his heart and is Jose Luis’ right hand man. Ofelia helps me wherever needed, assists in children's ministry and serves in the lunch kitchen. Delia is the leader of the newest lunch kitchen which is feeding 75 kids daily. Luis (from Rosarito) volunteers every Sunday wherever needed. These people all work for little or nothing, storing up treasures in heaven. Our teams have blessed us with food, clothing, shoes and diapers to share with them.
Building lives or building a building? My opinion is that the church is a place where the body of Christ meets to learn and get spiritually fed. We are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:18-20) and as one t-shirt says “don’t just go to church - be the church”. There are now about twelve men learning how to be the church. The women are starting to serve in the ministry and the youth are bringing their friends to hear about Jesus and read the Word of God! Some of them are serving and several helped us move the church into our new tents.
We are encouraged and delighted to have wonderful worship people every week and the blessing of new instruments donated by the band “Two or More”. We are trusting God to provide a building where we can meet and in the meantime, we will be meeting Old Testament style, in tents. The one thing we want to say is God is Good, all the time and THANK YOU for being on this team! May you be blessed in many glorious ways. "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11
All to His glory,
