Trauma Aid UK (Formerly HAP UK & Ireland), Monthly update: December, 2016

Dear <<First Name>>,

This is the last Monthly Update of 2016.

It has been a very busy and successful year with trainings in Turkey very close to war zones and Bozni
where the traumatic legacy of war still remains strong.

Looking ahead to 2017 the Consultants' Day in January remains fully booked which is good for the raising of funds for the work of Trauma Aid UK to continue training professionals in EMDR where there are no local training serivces available. These clinicians then return to their own countries and support their local, traumatised communities.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have provided their time free for Trauma Aid UK's work. All of Trauma Aid's funds are targetted at delivering the EMDR training - no one is paid, all volunteer and the administration costs are negligible.

To our members whose donations each year enable the training to continue. Memberships are renewed each January. If you are paying by standing order you will receive your receipt later in January. The EMDR Association includes a Trauma Aid UK membership application form in their annual membership pack (remember that the EMDR Association UK and Ireland and Truama Aid UK are quite different organisations). Many people send in their cheques with these forms and you receive your receipt as soon as they have been processed. Since last year the EMDR Association has been sending out their membership packs in batches rather than all at the begining of January; if you would like to join before receiving your pack, you can do so on-line with a credit/debit card or PayPal - click here to go to our web site.

To the Supervisors who volunteer their time to work by Skype with Supervisees who have trained on our courses. These EMDR Consultants are key to the success of our work - it is so important for those who have trained in EMDR to receive good supervisory support from a very early stage in their training; supervision which can continue into their longer term clinical work.

To the Trustees who deliver so much to Trauma Aid UK in terms of their time: running the Trauma Aid UK stall; managing the membership; liasing with other organisations; and, meeting regularly to set the policy for Trauma Aid UK.

What a team we make...

Thank you.

We wish you all a good New Year for 2017.

Sian Morgan (Trainer) and Dr Walid Abdulhamid and Dr Khaled Sultan (interpreters and facilitators) have returned safely from Gaziantep and there will be an article in the January Newsletter.
