Entrance Relandscaping

I’m sure you’ve noticed the lush new plantings that have been installed at both entrances.  There are only a few final touches that need to be completed early next week.

The new landscape plan is a picturesque blend of colorful, perennial plantings along with the vibrantly seasonal annuals.  This will provide JL with an impressive entry year round.

A special thanks to Landscape Architect Tony Grimaldi for his beautiful design!

Butterfly Island

Next we plan to tackle the rejuvenation of butterfly Island after the distress of both the salt intrusion and Hurricane Matthew.

Tony Grimaldi is also working with us on this design so you know it will be lush and still be an oasis for our majestic butterflies.

Completion is expected by Friday, November 18th.  Perfect for a soothing walk in the comfortable fall weather!

There have been several reports of swarming insects around the lakes, these are known as midges or blind flies.  The POA has purchased a special larva side which has been sprayed throughout the entire lake system.  This should quickly bring the midge problem under control.

Water Control Structures / Flap Gates

Last October, JL experienced salt intrusion into our fresh water lakes.  Since then, the POA and the Fresh Water Lake Committee have been working diligently on restoring and ensuring that our lakes will remain fresh going forward.

We are now in the process of replacing all of the flap gates that allow fresh water out of our lakes but keep the salt water from flowing back in.  This is the primary step in reaching our stated fresh water goals.  The flap gate installation should take about two weeks to complete.

The next step will be to formalize an ongoing maintenance plan.

Each year the residents of Jonathan’s Landing have graciously and contributed to the Holiday Fund for the JL Security Staff and our POA administrative staff. These valued employees serve all of the residents of JL throughout the year, looking out for your safety and security by responding to medical, fire and intrusion alarms. These 25 dedicated men and women have a total combined commitment to the residents of Jonathan’s Landing of 138 years. To help you express your appreciation during the holiday season, the POA Board has once again established a special Employee Holiday Fund. All gifts are greatly appreciated.

Gifts received by November 26, 2016 will allow distribution in time for our employees to do their holiday shopping.

If you have already sent in your gift, the Board and Staff thank you most kindly.
