Eat to Beat Inflammation
All of the recipes on my NutriNatters blog are anti-inflammatory i.e.  based on foods to nourish cells and enhance immune system function. Here's a small selection for you to enjoy:

Your Blueprint for Healthy Ageing

Functional tests from reputable labs help to pinpoint what is actually happening in the body. Useful tests include:
  • A fatty acids blood profile to show the ratio of pro- and anti-inflammatory fatty acids (a pin-prick home blood test)
  •  DNA cheek swab home test kit, DNA analysis with comprehensive clinical lifestyle tests to optimise weight-management, exercise and wellness
  • a range of stool tests to show levels of beneficial and pathogenic bacteria, yeast proliferation, gut immunity, digestion and absorption ability, susceptibility to bowel disease and whether parasites are present.
Functional tests will be offered as part of a nutritional therapy consultation.

I'm celebrating 10 years in practice in 2016!
How to Age Well

We all want to live to a ripe old age free of disease with abundant energy and our faculties intact. Even if you've noticed that "age-related"symptoms such as joint pain, a reduction in stamina and a thickening waist have set in, it's never too late to make a plan to delay, and even reverse, the effects of ageing.

Nutrition and Healthy Ageing
Certain foods are known to slow biological ageing by controlling inflammation, supporting the immune system, protecting the brain, feeding beneficial bacteria in the gut,  modifying gene expression and repairing DNA.
I've given you some pointers below so that you can start your own healthy ageing routine right away.
  • increase your consumption of cruciferous vegetables including broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and kale to help to repair DNA
  • Enjoy those lovely, colourful summer berries - blueberries, strawberries, raspberries - in the knowledge that they contain brain-protective chemicals
  • Feed your microbiome (the microbes in your gut) with pre-biotic foods including chicory, lentils, leeks, onions and peas
  • Reduce inflammation, "the silent killer" behind  so many degenerative diseases. Inflammation-calming foods include Omega-3 essential fats (from oily fish, nuts and seeds),  vegetables, fruit, ginger and turmeric.
Invest in a Healthy Future
A personalised anti-ageing nutritional therapy plan is the best investment you can make in a healthy future: protect yourself against "age-related" diseases, enhance your brainpower, increase your energy, have glowing skin and optimise digestive function.
When I put together a personalised healthy eating plan for a client, my aim is to provide the body's cells with the nutrients they need to regenerate and function at peak performance. We'll work together over a three- or six-month period to improve your nutrition and lifestyle to instil healthy, life-enhancing habits.  I'll also advise you on nutritional supplements and skin products. We'll discuss appropriate  functional tests  to provide a snapshot of how your body is working (see panel opposite for more information).
Take the first step towards your healthy-ageing plan by filling in the health questionnaire and food diary on the  Consultations page of my web site. Or, email me your phone number and I'll call you for a free no-obligation 10-minute chat. In three months' time you could be a different person!

Yours in good health,

Rita
