Dear Prairie Families,

Your child’s health, safety, and well-being is our highest priority, and as the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to garner worldwide attention, we want to reassure you that we are monitoring the global and national situation closely while keeping in regular contact with both the Racine Health Department and Ascension All Saints Hospital. Currently there are no cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Southeastern Wisconsin, and according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the risk of  infection for students and the population in general is low.

That said, the Prairie Health Office continues to see cases of respiratory viruses such as the flu and flu-like illnesses among our students. Given the world's heightened alertness surrounding the spread of infectious diseases, now is a particularly important time to reiterate the use of best practices when preventing the spread of germs:

  • Wash hands regularly with antiseptic soap for at least 20 seconds
  • Cough or sneeze into the crook of the arm and not into the hands
  • Most importantly, keep your child home when he or she is sick — please print Prairie's Health Office Too Sick For School Chart for easy reference

In regards to travel, Prairie has already cancelled the Upper School's spring break trip to China and we are paying close attention to our other trip destinations (France and New Mexico). We also encourage all students and families to be cautious with their travel plans in the coming weeks and months, and to follow U.S. State Department Travel Policies and any mandatory quarantines post-travel.

To reiterate, your child's health, safety, and well-being are our greatest priorities. We are fortunate that local preparations are well underway if there is an outbreak in our region and we will continue to work with local public health officials and hospitals to keep you informed as the situation evolves. If you have any questions regarding local preparations, please contact Racine’s Health Department. As always, we are available to answer any Prairie-specific questions via email or phone call. Have a healthy and fun weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nat Coffman, Head of School
Mrs. Courtney Brady, R.N.

Catch up with your favorite storybook characters in this timeless yet relevant show. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s hex, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Please note: Due to the length and subject matter, this musical is most appropriate for students in Grade 7 and above. Please bring younger students at your own discretion.

Prairie delegates represented the countries of Gambia, Mauritius, Latvia, and Suriname and sat on committees that represented the Cabinets of Mexico, Japan and the United States, solving problems related to refugees, crypto-currency, and global tourism. Representing Mauritius, Alexander Raskin '21 received a verbal commendation for his work on the Asian-African Legal Committee, where they resolved the problem of legal protections for migrant workers.
