All TPS parents are invited to join Dr. Coffman this upcoming Tuesday, February 11th as he shares current information and insight about the life of our school — including an exciting announcement regarding plans for our future. 

The festivities will begin at 8:00AM with a hot breakfast in the Hilpert Room. Please enter through Door #2. No RSVP is required. We'd love to see you there!

Informational Evening for Grade 9/10 Parents

When: Wednesday, February 12th from 6:00-7:00PM

Wondering what your student should be doing about college and when? Bring your questions, meet the college counselors, and learn more about our 4-year college counseling process at an informal meeting on Wednesday, February 12th. Please enter through the SRC doors off the Upper School parking lot.

A Re-Enrollment Message from the Admission Office
 
The time has come to issue re-enrollment contracts to all eligible, currently-enrolled students. Within the next week, you will receive your child(ren)'s re-enrollment contract in the mail. Completed and signed contracts are due no later than Friday, March 15th. Each contract must include a $500/student enrollment deposit. 

If you are planning to have an additional child apply to The Prairie School, please contact the Admission Office at (262) 752-2525 as soon as possible.

Last month – for the second consecutive year – Prairie teamed up with the Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra to host the Woody Herman Jazz Festival here on campus.

3rd Annual Border Battle Boys' Basketball Tournament
 
Saturday, Feb. 8th
Begins 10:00AM
JAC and Fieldhouse 

Join your fellow Hawks' fans for an action-packed day of Varsity and JV Boys’ Basketball! Select Wisconsin teams — including TPS, La Crosse Central, and defending Division 1 state champion Brookfield Central — tip off against teams from Illinois, including New Trier, Deerfield, and Antioch.

Time slots are available for reservation every 15 minutes, via the button below. Donors should arrive early and ready to go. Anyone age 17 or older can donate with a photo ID. Please note: in the state of Wisconsin, 16-year-olds can donate with a note of parental consent.

Primary School
Save the Date: PS Fan Night
When: Friday, February 21st
Where: JAC
Primary School Fan Night will take place during the Varsity Girls' and Boys' basketball games at 5:30PM and 7:00PM, respectively. This is also Senior Night for the Boys' team, so be sure to arrive early and grab your seat.

Back by popular demand: poster-making, pompoms and temporary Prairie tattoos, all of which students can use to cheer on their Hawks. As an added treat, students in Grades 2-4 will have the opportunity to join the group who will lead the National Anthem. As always, the concession stand will be open with hot dogs, popcorn and soda available for purchase. 

New to PS Music Lessons: Suzuki Violin
Students in Grades 1-6 may now sign up for Suzuki Violin lessons through Prairie's private and group music lesson offerings. Click here for details. Strings will be led by instructor Julie Bamberger Roubik, who will schedule her own private lesson times and days according to her availability and location. Middle School

Grade 6: New Health Curriculum
Beginning Thursday, March 12th, Grade 6 students will participate in age-appropriate lessons in their health classes focused on building an understanding of behavioral, social, and emotional health. Classes will discuss influences on human sexuality and body image during puberty, reproductive systems and their functions, health information related to menstruation and pregnancy, and understanding consent and communication skills. Grades 5/6: Hilpert Scholarship Exam Offered
On Saturday, February 22nd at 8:30AM, the annual Willie Hilpert Memorial Scholarship exam will be offered to current and prospective students in Grades 5/6. Parents must contact the Admission Office at (262) 752-2525 to register their child for the exam. 

As our merit scholarships are need-based, any student taking the exam must receive financial aid here at Prairie. If your child is interested in sitting for the exam and you don't already receive financial aid, you may complete the Preliminary Financial Aid form and return to the Admission Office, to see if you might qualify.

MS Athletics
MS Basketball Practice Update: Long Winter Weekend
MS Boys’ Basketball Grades 7 and 8 will practice on Monday,  February 17th as usual. All other MS Basketball teams (Boys’ and Girls’) will not practice on February 17th.

Register for MS Spring Sports
Please register your child online by Wednesday, March 18th to ensure that you receive team communications. Click here to login to your Family Athletic Account, where you can review or update your child’s registration status. Clearance must be approved before your child can practice or play. 

Start dates and practice information are as follows:

  • Co-Ed Track (Grades 5-8) with Coach Hollow: Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-5:15PM, beginning on April 8th. Please meet by the Fieldhouse entrance.
  • Girls’ Soccer (Grades 7-8) with Coach Bresnehan: Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30PM, beginning on April 6th. Meet on the JV Soccer Field.
    • The first practice will run until 5:45PM. 
    • Practices will shift to Tuesday or Thursday if games fall during regular practice days.
  • Intramural Co-Ed Tennis (Grades 5-8) with Coach Axelson: Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30PM, beginning April 13th. Meet in back of JAC and walk together to/from Wind Meadows Courts.
  • Intramural Co-Ed Golf (Grades 5-8) with Coach Rick: Saturdays in the mid-late afternoon (time announced weekly), beginning April 25th. Meet at Ives Grove. 
    • Parents must transport students to/from practice. 
    • Owned clubs recommended. A limited number of loaner clubs are available with a signed contract on a first come, first served basis.

Wind Point Tennis

Spring Sport Registration due Wednesday, Feb. 26th

Spring Sport Parent/Athlete Meeting: Monday, Mar. 9th
All spring sport athletes and at least one parent are expected to attend a mandatory pre-season meeting. If you have an unavoidable conflict, please email your Head Coach and the Athletic Office as soon as possible. LP Boys’ Baseball will meet at the Racine Lutheran gym at 7:00PM; all other sports will gather in the JAC, with check-in beginning at 6:00PM. Questions? Contact Dori Panthofer.
