Idea Lab Acorn Grants

Do you have an idea to strengthen sustainability at Johns Hopkins University? The Idea Lab is a place for your biggest ideas, and as President Daniels said, the opportunity to "be a part of the bold thinking and spirit of service that are hallmarks of our institution."

Last year, sustainability joined community and diversity as the newest Idea Lab challenge. The winning idea will expand move-out recycling and reuse opportunities for Homewood students. The 80 proposed ideas in response to three challenges recorded nearly 9,000 votes from the JHU community.

This year, we invite you to submit your most innovative ideas for increasing visibility and inspiring action through a creative or experiential program. If you have a creative idea for engaging the campus community and inspiring action, you could be the next winner of the Acorn Grant!

Submit your ideas starting March 27. Online voting will take place April 26-May 5.
Eco-Smart Highlight
School of Medicine Facilities is making it easier, tastier, and cooler to go reusable in the Wood Basic Science and Ross buildings. These 21 new "hydration stations" filter and chill water, comply with ADA requirements, and encourage reusable water bottle use. BYO water bottle, and fill up!
In the News
A bill to ban food and beverage Styrofoam is making its way through the state Senate and House. Styrofoam, or "polystyrene," isn't just bad for Maryland's waterways, but also our own personal health. A ban would pave the way for a cleaner Maryland - stay in the loop and show your support!
Eco-Smart Tip
Conventional cleaning products and toiletries contain chemicals that travel to and pollute our local waterways. DIY home products can reduce this pollution and save you money. With a few basic ingredients (lemon, vinegar, soap, salt, baking soda), you've got everything you need to clean greener and healthier.
