Butterfly Garden

We are starting a butterfly garden on the front lawn of the library!

What is a butterfly garden? The garden includes milkweed plants to attract Monarch butterflies during their migrations. In the fall, Monarchs migrate from the northern parts of the United States and Canada to Mexico. In the spring, they fly back north and use milkweed as a place to lay their eggs. Milkweed is a crucial part of a caterpillar's diet, and most caterpillars will form their chrysalises on these plants. Check our Facebook page for updates on our garden!

Plant Swap May 24-27: take some plants and seeds for your home or neighborhood! Any plants, seeds, or cuttings you would like to bring to swap are welcome, but you don't have to contribute anything to swap to participate.

The Prendergast Library will be hosting its very first StoryWalk®

this June! The StoryWalk® will feature pages from How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman displayed in windows of local businesses along 3rd street. Stay tuned for more details. This program is a partnership with the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation
