On December 10th at 5:15 pm, Prendergast Library staff will present the 2021-2024 strategic plan. Community members that are interested in listening to the presentation can email reference@prendergastlibrary.org for a link to join the GoToMeeting.

The library's strategic planning process included gathering community input through a survey that was available to patrons in December 2019 and collected through late January 2020. The library received 165 surveys from the community.

This fall, the library management team worked with Dr. Amanda Lake, a consultant from Lakeside Leadership. Dr. Lake is a volunteer with Catchafire, a New York-based organization that makes skill-based connections between professional volunteers and non-profits. Thank you to the Sheldon Foundation for giving the library a spot with Catchafire!

From debut author Janae Marks comes a captivating story full of heart, as one courageous girl questions assumptions, searches for the truth, and does what she believes is right—even in the face of great opposition.

Zoe Washington isn’t sure what to write. What does a girl say to the father she’s never met, hadn’t heard from until his letter arrived on her twelfth birthday, and who’s been in prison for a terrible crime? A crime he says he never committed.

Blast from the Past!
This is a newspaper photo from 1939. It shows a before and after photo of the historic Prendergast mansion in Kianton after a fire destroyed a major portion of the house. Alexander T. Prendergast built the house in the 1840s. The fire was caused by faulty wiring.

The Prendergast Library is partnering with Keeping Each Other Warm in Jamestown, NY, to place a clothesline outside of the library's Cherry Street entrance. We have a drop-off box in the library.

Accepted items for donation include:

Adult and Child hats, earmuffs/earbands, mittens/gloves, scarves, and socks.

PLEASE NOTE: we will only accepting ℕ𝔼𝕎 store-bought or handmade items due to COVID precautions.

Keeping Each Other Warm was launched in 2014 with one primary goal in mind— To help our neighbor's stay as warm as possible while outdoors during our cold WNY winters. Thus, the hanging of cold weather gear on the clothes line's in various locations throughout our city began.
