STUDY TEAM ON TWO STATE SOLUTION FOR ISRAEL/PALESTINE WELCOMES INPUT FROM DIVERSE VIEWPOINTS
The Study Team appointed last year to study the "two state solution" to the Israel Palestine conflict is welcoming written comments or statements on the feasibility and nature of one, two, or other concepts of statehood and the rights, values, and characteristics attached to those concepts. Such comments or statements may be sent to email@example.com
throughout September. Those in the Washington, DC area, may also present their views in person to representatives of the study team on September 10
, from 10:30am to 4:00pm
. Anyone wishing to present their views in person is asked to indicate their interest to that same email, firstname.lastname@example.org
, for scheduling purposes. Others may wish to send their comments in advance of that listening time.
The Presbytery of National Capital has graciously agreed to sponsor the September 10
listening session, which will it will hold at the National Presbyterian Church. Members of the study team and parent committee will be present.
The Study Team will also present a brief update on its study process that will also be available to those interested via email. The team will not have a draft report until after it has further considered its own gathered information and other input from diverse groups. As a drafting team of the Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy (ACSWP), the study team will present its draft first to ACSWP later in the Fall. ACSWP is the deciding body that will determine the shape of the report to go to the General Assembly in June 2016. The study team mandate originated in an overture to the 2014 General Assembly and can be found online at http://pc-biz.org/%28S%280xydsdmlcynmbynvyruh0lsa%29%29/Explorer.aspx?id=4575
While a single writer could have been commissioned to write a report, the Advisory Committee chose a small team of persons with particular areas of expertise for the task.
