Morgan's Musings

I know I'm early, but as I mentioned last month, this is one of my favorite times of year. After Halloween (I hope you had a spooky time!) Thanksgiving is my next favorite holiday. I love the spirit of the season, helping to remind all of us of the things we have to be thankful for. Oh, and the food. Did I mention the food?

In honor of Thanksgiving, I thought I would share with you the recipe for my Gingerdoodle Spice cookies. Not only are they a great little dessert after a big dinner, but they make excellent holiday presents too!

Gingerdoodle Spice Cookies

2 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp ground ginger

½ tsp nutmeg

¼ tsp kosher salt

1 & ½ sticks butter

½ cup packed brown sugar

½ cup granulated sugar

1 egg

2 tbs molasses

2 tbs maple syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

Coating: 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp ginger, ½ cup sugar (brown or white)

-Preheat oven to 350

-Whisk together dry ingredients, set aside

-Beat butter (softened) & sugar until fluffy, then add egg, vanilla, molasses & maple syrup and mix until combined

-Reduce speed to low and slowly add in flour mixture until dough forms

-Chill dough for at least 1 hr

-Roll out tablespoon sized balls

-Coat in sugar & spice mixture and place on baking sheet

-Bake for 10-15 minutes, until edges are just firm

-Let cool on a wire rack

If you end up making them, let me know how they turned out. Send a pic! I'm always interested in what you've got going on.

One of the things I am most thankful for this year is those of you who read my newsletter!

I'm going to keep things short and sweet this month, because I know how busy this time of year can be.

Now, without further ado, I'll announce the winner of last month's raffle:

Heather Bryda

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your gift card and get something for your sweet pup!

Didn't win? Don't worry, there's another chance every month!

How to enter: Respond to this email and tell me what your favorite Thanksgiving dish is! A winner will be chosen at random and sent a $10 Amazon Gift Card.

What's new this month: I got an acceptance for my story "Wild" from Eerie River Press. My story (which is one of my favorites) will appear in their anthology of dark fae stories which will be out next year!

What I'm reading: I've been studying the tarot this month. You might remember I mentioned the Humble Bundle last month, which netted me 24 books on witchery and magic for just $25!

So, this months reading has been The Big Book of Tarot by Joan Bunning and The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings by Brigit Esselmont. Both are super interesting and very informative.

I also read the latest book in the Guild Hunter series, which I have been waiting for for so long. Aodhan & Illium's story is beautiful and made my heart happy. I highly recommend Archangel's Light by Nalini Singh!
I've decided to end this newsletter with a picture of my adorable cat. You're welcome. (If you want to send me pictures of YOUR adorable cat... or dog or whatever, feel free!) I love pet pics!
