Chapman Valley Shopfront

The Shire of Chapman Valley is set to trial an alternative way for the community to interact and work with the ShireRead Shopfront Expands Shire of Chapman Valley’s Services.

Pool and Spa Fencing Requirements

There are specific laws in WA that mandate the installation of a safety barrier to enclose private swimming and spa pools. The laws are intended to protect the safety of young children by restricting their access to the area containing the swimming or spa pool.  The Shire of Chapman Valley carry out pool isolation fence inspections and request that all pool owners carry out necessary maintenance works.  More info...

Bushfire Water Supplies

The Department of Water has advised people in bushfire prone areas with bores and access to surface water that they can take and store water to support bushfire plans.  If you plan to defend your home, public water supply may not be available due to damaged infrastructure, extreme demand depleting supply and pressure, or a cut to power which is used to pump water. Changing Use of Heavy Vehicles

An owner of a heavy vehicle can now nominate changes to the intended use of the vehicle saving their business money.  For example if a trailer is removed, a Change of Heavy Use Form can be completed reducing the license cost.  This can be done daily, weekly or monthly.  For more information visit the Department of Transport.

Australia Day Celebrations

The 2016 Chapman Valley Australia Day event will be held at Coronation Beach.  This event is fantastic way to recognise and celebrate everything Australian and especially our Citizen of the Year nominees.  Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a beach breakfast on the 26th January.

Borrow Box and Zinio Library

Borrow Box E-Books - The most popular Australian and international ebooks and eAudiobooks are now available to Nabawa and Yuna Public Library patrons. Contact the Nabawa or Yuna library for login details as they are specific to each person. 
Zinio Online Magazine Library - Over 300 free online magazines are availabe to read from your computer, iphone or tablet such as the current 4wd Action, Home Beautiful, Womens Weekly, Top Gear, Better Homes & Gardens, Digital Photography, Donna Hay, Horses & People and many more. Contact the Nabawa or Yuna library for login details as they are specific to each person.


Fuel Card Rollout for Volunteers

Emergency services volunteers will be given help with fuel expenses under a $7.6 million State Government program to provide fuel cards to eligible volunteer groups.
The scheme will be available in regional and high-risk bushfire areas and will provide eligible volunteer emergency service groups with $2,000 per year over four years.

Esperance Bush Fire Appeal

There are a number of ways to help out victims of the Esperance Bush Fires.  If you would like to offer assistance, some recommended places are:

Council will meet at 9.00am in the Council Chambers at Nabawa (3270 Chapman Valley Road) on each ordinary meeting date.

Christmas Closure
The Shire of Chapman Valley's Administration Building will be closed over the Christmas Period from 4.30pm on Thursday 24 December 2015 and will re-open at 8.30am on Monday 4 January 2016.
Australia Post mail collection will not be available during this shutdown period.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.  Parcel Collect is an alternative option.


The following programs are currently in place providing financial assistance: Farm Water Supply Planning Scheme, Pastoral Water Grants Scheme, Community Water Supply Program, Accelerated Depreciation for Primary Producers.  Read more on how to access these funds...

This program aims to support projects run by charitable organisations which offer a direct and tangible benefit to local communities. In addition to providing funding for community projects, ANZ staff are also actively encouraged to support the work of the ANZ Staff Foundation by volunteering their time and skills to support the projects.  Grants of up to $5,000 are available until 15th January 2016. Read more...

Supports talented athletes aged 13-21 years to pursue regional, state and national representation. Round 1 is now open and applications can be made online until Friday 20 November 2015 for eligible events with start dates from 15 May 2015 to 15 December 2015.  Read more...

Volunteer Grants Program aims to support the efforts of Australia’s volunteers. They provide small amounts of money which organisations can use to help their volunteers.  Closing date 9th December, click here for guidelines.

Applications for Tourism WA’s 2016-17 Regional Events Scheme are now open and closes on February 1, 2016.  Funding is for eligible regional events held between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017 that have the ability or potential to attract visitors to the region, achieve media attention and involve and inspire the local community.  For more information click here.

Macca's Junior Sports Grants aims to increase participation in junior sports and encourage the habit of a healthy lifestyle amongst young West Australians. Grants are provided to schools or groups within Western Australia to provide basic sporting infrastructure for a school or sporting group for an activity which is likely to encourage kids to participate in sport.  Read more...
