Coronation Beach Survey

The Shire of Chapman Valley is undertaking a review of its Coastal Management Strategy 2007.  The aim of the review is to reflect the community's vision regarding use along the coast and we are interested in hearing what you have to say.  We have prepared a very short 10 question survey to gather your thoughts on management of the coast between Drummond Cove and Woolawar Gully, with a focus on Coronation Beach.  Please click on the link to complete the survey.  Responses are due by the 17th April 2015. Nabawa Townsite Revitalisation Plan

Notice is hereby given by the local government of the Shire of Chapman Valley that the Nabawa Townsite Revitalisation Plan is available for comment.  A visual concept is available to view as well as a resource guide.  Click here for Plan objectives.
The Nabawa Townsite Revitalisation Plan document is available for viewing at the Shire office or the document can be viewed online.  Submissions on the Nabawa Townsite Revitalisation Plan must be made in writing or emailed on or before 4:00pm Friday 12 June 2015.

Local Planning Policies

Council resolved at its 18 March 2015 meeting to amend the following Local Planning Policies for public comment:
•           Outbuildings
•           Sea Containers
A copy of the Local Planning Policies and a submission form should you wish to provide comment are available at the Shire Office, or alternatively a copy can be forwarded to you upon request, or by downloading a copy from the Shire’s website.
Submissions will be received up to and including Friday 17 April 2015.

Buller Local Structure Plan

The draft Buller Local Structure Plan has been prepared and is now available for public comment.  The document can be accessed from the Shire office or alternatively the document can be viewed online .
Submissions on the draft Structure Plan must be made in writing and lodged with the Shire before 4:00pm Friday 29 May 2015.  For further information about the Buller Local Structure Plan please contact the Shire’s Planning Department on (08) 9920 5011.

Glenn Mitchell Event

Chapman Valley Menshed have posted a video through their website, capturing the  the Suicide Prevention event with guest speaker, former ABC Radio sports presenter Glenn Mitchell.  Glenn's address on his life journey with mental illness was filled with key messages and an element of humour.  For photo's and more information click here.

There will be a fully funded (normally $125) Mental Health First Aid training at the beginning of July to be held in Nabawa.  For more information or to register your interest contact the Shire's Community Development Officer.

ANZAC Camp Out

The Northampton RSL is organising a Gallipoli Campout and Night Vigil for the night of 24 April 2015 and they need people to register their interest.  If you are interested in attending, please click here for more information.

Put Friday the 8th May into your calendar also for the annual Mothers Day Morning Tea at the Nabawa Community Hall.

Borrow Box

Borrowbox is a new product offered by the State Library of WA offering free eBook and eAudio loans.  All you need to do is become a member of the Library.  The SLWA also has many other features including Family History, Storylines an online archive of Indigenous History, and Better Beginnings for early years Literacy.

Access DoT direct and register to receive a free personalised account where you can manage all information relating to your personal vehicle licence and drivers licence, as well as pay all bills associated with these licences.  There is also temporary movement of vehicle permits available.

Australia Post Parcel Collect

Register for our Parcel Collect service to pick up your parcels at an Australia Post location that suits you.  How does it work? When you register online, Aust Post assign you a unique Australia Post Customer Number. You will then need to select the Parcel Collect location most convenient to you. Australia Post send you an SMS or email when it arrives so you can collect it straight away.

Council will meet at 9.00am in the Council Chambers at Nabawa (3270 Chapman Valley Road) on each ordinary meeting date.



Australia Post are offering one-off cash payments of up to $10,000 for projects that will help to build healthier, more vibrant and more inclusive communities across Australia.  Grant applications close on Friday, 4 April 2014.  To access more information, click here.


Entry is open to not-for-profit community groups and organisations of any size, who are seeking funding to help enhance the lives of people in their local community.  The community group or organisation should have a specific project in mind for how the grant will be used to benefit their local community. Grants available 1st Oct – 31st Dec 2015. Click here for more information.


Local cricket clubs have the chance to apply for Club Sponsorships. Each consists of a two-year, $2,000 financial commitment each year, as well as cricket gear. Clubs also get CommBank cricket merchandise, such as Commonwealth Bank marquees, to use on game days.  If your club, or a club you know could use our help, apply by 9 August 2015.  Click here for more information.


Eligible sporting clubs have the opportunity to apply for a one-off $500 subsidy towards shared equipment. There will be two rounds per year, one for summer clubs and the second for winter clubs. Clubs will be able to apply directly online for this grant current round closes April 2015.


The Aurizon Community Giving Fund is focused on the broad areas of health and wellbeing, community safety, the environment and education. All applications for an Aurizon Community Giving Fund grant must fit within at least one of these funding categories to be eligible for consideration.  Applications close 24th April.


Grants of up to $15,000 are available to community groups around the country to help preserve and manage locally held, nationally significant cultural heritage collections of documents and objects for future generations. Projects supported include significance assessments, preservation needs assessments, conservation activities and collection management.  Online applications are due 1st May.
