Australia Day Celebrations

 

Another fantastic turnout for our Australia Day event held at Coronation Beach.

Congratulations to Darryle Mazzuchelli - Citizen of the Year and to the Chapman Valley Colts football team - Community Team of the Year.

 

WALGA's Banners in the Terrace 2017 


This annual exhibition of banners along St George's and Adelaide Terrace in Perth allows communities and regions throughout Australia to represent themselves to thousands of people travelling along these routes.  To find out more click here. Free Community Concert 


WA’s hottest new Country Rock performer Ray Ryder and his band will be rocking the Chapman Valley at the Yuna Oval on Friday 10th March 2017 from 6.30pm. This free family friendly event is fun for all ages. The Yuna P and C will have food and beverages available. Bring a picnic rug and chairs. 

Ryder’s all ages concerts and accompanying free music workshops across regional WA are supported by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions Program administered by the Department of Culture and the Arts in consultation with the Department of Regional Development.

 

 

Provide First Aid Course 


Chapman Valley Ambulance Sub Centre will be holding a 2 day Provide First Aid Course on Saturday 4 March and Sunday 5 March commencing at 8.30am.  Click here for further information.

Online Community Hub 


We've been progressing the new Shire of Chapman website which will include an online community hub function where community groups and local businesses can share information about the community of Chapman Valley.  Interested parties will need to manage their own part of the online community hub keeping it up to date. We are seeking a contact person from each community group and business so that we can can offer training and keeping your group informed of the online community hub setup. Please send the relevant persons details to Community Development Officer Rebecca Millar at community@chapmanvalley.wa.gov.au or call 9920 5011.

Photographs for new website

 

We want our new Shire of Chapman Valley website to truly represent the life, place and community of the Chapman Valley. A 'picture tells a thousand words' and we are seeking photographs from the community and businesses that can be used on the new website. From people, activities, landscape, flora, fauna, buildings, heritage and events we are interested in those moments that capture the Chapman Valley in its best light. Send images to community@chapmanvalley.wa.gov.au or contact Rebecca Millar Community Development Officer on 9920 5011.

 

Crime SMS System

 

The Shire of Chapman Valley now has a new SMS system for residents to report crime.  The mobile number for residents to report events is 0429 688 503.  When a resident sends an SMS to this number they will receive the following response: "Thx 4 using SMS Report CV-NR, making it #tougherforcrooks. If in danger dial 000. If urgent Ph 131444."  Your SMS message will be forwarded directly to the Northampton Police Station.

ROYALTIES FOR REGIONS 

  1. Retain and build the benefits of regional communities.
  2. Support improved, relevant and accessible local services.
  3. Enable communities to deliver a sustainable economic and social future.
  4. Assist regional communities to prosper through increased employment, business and industry development opportunities.
  5. Increase capacity for local strategic planning and decision-making

Regional Grants Scheme funds between $50,000 - $300,000 
 

NACC'S REGIONAL LANDCARE FACILITATOR (RLF) PROJECT
Small grants are available for community groups across the NAR to assist them in running capacity building activities that will engage our people in Landcare and NRM activities.
 
There is two categories of funding available for groups to apply:
  1. Funding to run activities or events that will lead to sustainable agriculture and biodiversity outcomes e.g. workshop/field day/ bus tour on soil health, biodiversity protection, wetland and riparian protection, etc. Groups can apply for funding of up to $1,000 to assist them deliver these outcomes. Training on rural leadership including women & youth will be considered on initial discussion with the RLF.
  2. Funding to help our community groups tackle the threats of feral animals in the region’s landscape e.g. red card for rabbits and foxes and any feral animal control event. Groups can apply for funding of up to $750 to assist them with the cost of running the red card for rabbits and foxes or any feral animal control.
HOLDEN HOME GROUND ADVANTAGE
The purpose of the program is for Holden to provide financial assistance to local sporting clubs and community organisations to develop their club rooms, sporting grounds and general facilities, and invest in the growth and development of their emerging talent. Around $12,500 is available and applications close on 31st March 2017.  More info

FOUNDATION FOR RURAL & REGIONAL RENEWAL SMALL GRANTS FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES ROUND 31
Not for profit community organisations that have an ABN or Incorporated certificate can apply.  Click here for further information. Applications close Friday 31 March 2017.

COASTWEST GRANTS 2017/2018 
Coastwest Grants are provided by the Western Australian Planning Commission to support projects designed as a response to the challenges facing WA's coastal environments.  Application kits can be downloaded from the Western Australian Planning Commission website.  Click here  Applications close Tuesday 21 March 2017.
