Better Code Monday 17/02/20

Good day/evening! 👋

Here are this week's three coding tips:

Tip #1 - Change what "now" is

mockdate is a neat library to mock Date object that can be used to change when "now" is.

How it works 👇🏽

Tip #2 - Don't ignore the problem

Be prepared when runtime errors come up.

Logging (console.log) the error isn't enough. They often get mixed up with other things that the console prints.

Example 👇🏽

Tip #3 - Speak others' language

Communicating with others is part of your job as a developer. Aim to keep your audience in mind when communicating with others.

Use simple terms when chatting with someone who is not familiar with your domain. It's often easy to forget that the things that you work with every day can be confusing for others. The curse of knowledge is real.

Share your tips

Have a tip that you would like to share with our community? Tweet it to @nordschool and we will include it in one of the future newsletter issues! 👌🏽
If you know someone who might find this useful, sharing is appreciated! 👍🏼

That is it folks, wish you a good week & until next time! 👋
