Dear <<First Name>>,

We hope your holiday season has been restorative and wish you all the best for the new year. Thank you for standing with us through 2020. Because of you, the Festival and its musicians are very much still here! We're hard at work making plans to bring you Baroque music concerts again, in person, in June 2021.

Here's what we achieved this year, together, with links to all our 2020 video clips. We were able to offer all our online performances free-to-view thanks to your generosity prior to, and during, our 40th year.

A year in review:
Many of us gathered at St. Mark, Newport Beach on February 16th for our 40th Season Winter Musicale "Winds of the Western World."

Because of your support we were able to partially compensate the 50+ musicians who were due to perform in our "Grand Tour of Europe and Beyond" festival in June. We received an outpouring of gratitude from many who'd lost all their performing work, and therefore much of their livelihood, at that time:

  • "I am deeply moved by this extremely generous gesture."
  • "I never imagined a situation where I was capable, but not able to continue to earn a living in music."
  • "Thank you so much for the unexpected compensation... much appreciated. I look forward to resuming our concerts, one of my favorite gigs of all time..."
  • "It is a tribute to all of your efforts and your Festival board and loyal patrons, that you are able to offer financial compensation to the Festival musicians. Bravi tutti!"
  • "Your initiative is not a given, is not expected, yet it will make a big difference in bridging this challenging period."
Thank you to everyone who donated to our 40th Season and our Festival Musicians' Fund.
In June we compiled a Video-Fest of existing performances by our musicians to lift the spirits over the week our Festival would have occurred, including some off-the-wall "Out of the Bachs" offerings.

The first of our "Ask Elizabeth" videos aired in late August in response to a question from a winner in our July survey prize drawing, all about the harpsichord, with featured performances from Ian Pritchard, harpsichord and Alexandra Opsahl, cornetto.

Our Fall Preview was a virtual Fall Gathering this year, streaming on October 14th, and including an intimate performance with Mary Springfels on viola da gamba, repertoire and performer reveals for the 2021 Winter Musicale, and a fun Q&A on Zoom.

"Ask Elizabeth - Baroque Time Travel" rounded out the year with 20-minutes of escapism, more uplifting music, and some beautiful images. Catch it again here, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for direct notifications of future videos.

Summer 2021—the return of (safely-produced) live concerts:

We look forward to unveiling the full program for June 2021 at our Winter Musicale in the coming months*. We need your help more than ever to make live, safe, concerts possible! Your ongoing support ensures the Baroque Music Festival will survive this challenging time. As the only professional classical music organization based in Corona del Mar and Newport Beach we hope to continue for you, our loyal supporters, and for the local community, for many years to come.

We invite you to make a year-end gift to help bring covid-safe concerts to fruition at a live 2021 festival with our committed and talented performers. Underwriting opportunities are available to view on our website.

Be well, and we look forward to seeing you in person this coming year.

With our warmest regards—

Elizabeth Blumenstock, Artistic Director;
Wayne Norman, President, Board of Directors;
Zen Edwards, Executive Director
Baroque Music Festival, Corona del Mar

*Please note the Winter Musicale streaming date is subject to change due to state and county stay-at-home orders likely delaying our January concert filming date. We will announce the new virtual event date in the new year.
