We are pleased to announce the monthly Call for Proposals for the Gemini Fast Turnaround (FT) Program. The upcoming deadline is 12:00 (noon) Hawai‘i Standard Time on 28 February 2023. Proposals are being accepted for Gemini South only. For successful proposals this cycle, observations will be active in the queue April–June 2023.
GMOS-S and F2 (including F2 MOS mode) are available this cycle, and both IGRINS and Zorro are expected to be available for at least part of the cycle. However, it is expected that GMOS-S will be unavailable in May. Please see the Call for Proposals for more information and make sure to check the Gemini South 2023A semester instrument schedule for this period. If you have questions, please send them to the FT team at email@example.com.
The FT program has been used to conduct pilot studies, complete observations for existing data sets, follow up newly discovered objects, and much more. Proposers will have two weeks to peer review up to eight other proposals. Results will be announced around the 21st of the month following the deadline. Data for successful programs can be obtained as early as one to two weeks after that. The FT program uses a dual anonymous review process (DARP). Proposals must use the FT DARP proposal templates and be anonymized as described in the Call for Proposals.
