LEADERSHIP LORAIN COUNTY
April

A lot has changed in our community in the last few weeks. Let's support our local businesses, thank those that are taking risks to keep us going, and appreciate one another as we lead the way through this time of crisis.

Be sure to watch for our upcoming Newsletters and follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with all the latest news from Leadership Lorain County.
UPDATES FOR THE CLASS OF 2020

This will definitely be a year the "Best Class of 2020" will never forget. While they have had to remain physically apart, the class is staying connected digitally. They have been working hard to complete their projects, sending pictures from their Health & Wellness homework, eating healthy and staying active, as they cope with working remotely and other changes to their daily lives.

While there have been many changes and adaptations made to the end of their LLC year, they are working hard and we want to ensure they receive the recognition they deserve. Due to the current circumstances surrounding large gatherings we have moved the status of this event to pending and will provide more information as these restrictions reverse and we have a timeline available.

Thank you to all of you, our alumni, community partners, and friends, for your support of this years class. We are looking forward to our next chance to meet in person and show why our community really is the BEST!

CLASS PROJECTS UPDATE

The "Best Class of 2020" has shown their strengths and are not letting the current crisis stop them from leaving their mark on Lorain County.

The "Be Part of the Heart - No Show Spaghetti Dinner" was a great success. So far the class has raised over $6,000 for Blessing House, and has their Strides for Leadership 5K coming up in May. Due to current circumstances the Strides 5K has become a virtual event. You can support the teams efforts from your favorite place to run! Indoors, outdoors, just keep moving!

The team working on LIFT - Luggage and Backpack Drive for Displaced Youth in Lorain County, is now a fully online effort. You can support by giving a financial donation, or even purchase a new backpack or suitcase right from our website.

The Teaching Lorain County team has moved their meetings to remote digital gatherings. They are continuing to work hard towards their goal of filling our first ever TLC High School Class soon.

PLANNING & MOVING FORWARD

First and foremost, thank you to all of our community partners, intern sites, and students who have been extremely flexible, understanding and patient as we adjust to this "new normal" and work to adjust our schedules for the coming summer.

At this time we are currently planning on hosting our 2020 LLCIP Summer Session. We are looking at the possibility of a 2-week delay in schedule depending on stay-at-home orders and group meeting restrictions currently in place. Currently our program is scheduled to begin on Friday, May 22nd, with Orientation for the students, and ending on Friday, August 1st, with our Recognition Celebration. This delay would move our timeline to Friday, June 8th, to Friday, August 14th. We will make that decision within the next 15 days, based on any changes to the current mandates from Ohio's government.

We are also still looking to host students. Due to the current circumstances LLC has suspended the deadline for our 2020 LLCIP Summer Session. As the college student in your life adjusts to their "new normal" and assess the changes to their current plans, we encourage them to reach out and apply for our program. Please feel free to reach out to Jennifer at marketing@leadershiploraincounty.com or send those interested to our website by clicking HERE or on the link in the image above to learn more about the program and how to apply.
