Institute of Respiratory Health Trials

The Institute for Respiratory Health is a charitable organisation and one of Australia’s only integrated scientific and clinical research institute dedicated specifically to investigating respiratory disease. Their vision is to improve the life of everyone living with a respiratory condition.

The Institute’s Clinical Trials Unit is one of the largest respiratory trials clinics in Australia and they have been a part of the trials that lead to Kalydeco and Orkambi being approved in Australia. At present, there are no actively recruiting trials however, they urge anyone who would like to a part of our trials in the future to get in touch.

To find out more visit their website or contact the friendly team on (08) 6457 3198.

5 Feet Apart Film

You may have heard about the upcoming film, 5 Feet Apart, that features young adult characters with cystic fibrosis.

While there are some positives in raising awareness of CF and cross infection issues through the film, we understand that it may raise concerns for some viewers. We believe it does show an American “Hollywood” approach to CF, which sensationalises aspects of the condition not necessarily accurate to our Australian audience.

The CF Foundation in the US has released some information around the film that people may find useful.

If you have any questions about this film or would like to discuss it with our team, please contact Kathryn at servicesmanager@cfwa.org.au or on 08 6457 7333.

65 Roses Community Representatives

We are on the hunt for some community representatives who would be comfortable to appear in the media during May, our national month of awareness.

Our community representatives (like Sam pictured) play a a really important role in our 65 Roses campaign every year, helping us spread awareness of CF in their community and raising vital funds to support our services.

If you have a connection to CF and would be comfortable sharing your story, get in touch with Matt at communications@cfwa.org.au or on 08 6457 7333.
