We are looking at staying at Pax Lodge (one of the world centres) in North London on the Friday night, having a tour of Pax Lodge Saturday morning, then going to watch Annie at the Piccadilly Theatre and then being home by early evening.

These are what we are thinking but in the light of recent events in London not sure how parents will feel. If you have any girls who will be ready for their Adventure by then and they would be interested could you please ask them to email me on BP.essexwest@gmail.com by Saturday 15th July 2017.
Hilary Frankton.
Details of Members Day 2017 will be posted out to each Member over the next few weeks, please keep an eye out for it.
PEER Education, 17-19 Nov 17 @ Hautbois
During the ‘4’ Basic Training weekend you will train as a Peer Educator in a hands-on
way, exploring the skills and methods used in peer education through different activities. The training will include ‘Think Resilient’ training, a new programme of activities based around building mental well-being and growing resilience. This training topic has been developed in conjunction with Young Minds, a leading youth mental health charity. You will also acquire practical tools such as ideas for games and activities and receive information on training topics and how to get the scheme running in your area.

What's On in Essex West
Essex West Skills Pool
With summer in full swing, camps being planned and the school holidays just around the corner, why not have a look at the Skills Pool for activity ideas to do with your girls in the coming weeks, or keep it in mind for when planning for September.

This month’s newest addition is the offering of Wellbeing Talks with Senior Section groups around Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Anxiety and Depression. Especially important this time of year with exam results just around the corner. For those also based in and around Thurrock there is an additional opportunity to find out about Therapies in your area for over 18s.

More Exciting News - we’re hoping to offer a wider selection of STEM activities from September. We’re currently in talks with local STEM Ambassadors with the look to expand on our current offering, so watch this space if you have some budding Scientists or Engineers in your unit!

To join our Skills Pool, or book an activity, please contact Pat Parsons for more information.

Vlogs, Videos and Volunteering

We have recently uploaded another three new vlogs to our YouTube Channel. So whether you’re looking to looking for some new ideas to grow your unit, ways to engage your girls parents or maybe even thinking about how you could use your guiding knowledge to help others become excellent Leaders – then there’s something here for you. As part of the Improving Access to Guiding Project we’ve also created a Flexible Guiding Video(featuring our very own Stacy from Essex West!) to encourage more volunteers to join us, so please feel free to share this at events and/or across social media. Our new Induction Video will be officially launched over the Summer – so keep your eyes peeled for this too!

Over the coming weeks and months you will be receiving more information about our Recruitment Bootcamps in time for the national recruitment campaign in the Autumn. All of these things will help you become recruitment ready and even more information can be found on the Girlguiding Website.
 IA2G Feedback – Thank You

Thank you so much to everyone who has joined in with our feedback events, surveys and interviews over the last month as we prepare to commission the final designs of our volunteer induction resources, developed with the help of Essex West volunteers. Your comments and suggestions have been invaluable as we make sure these resources are ready for rollout. Keep an eye out in national Girlguiding communications next month as we release these across the country!
What a fabulous evening we had on Thursday at the Jack Petchey Foundation Awards. Congratulations to all our award winners and thank you to our superstar performers.
