This update is a bit like 🕺 📖 💃 ✏️ 📖 ⚰️ 📻 💗 and 🤖 🐈.
First off, I've done some illustrations for Some Things About Dance, a book by dancer, choreographer and writer Simon Ellis.
Some Things About Dance is a collection of playful ideas or things about the art of dance. Each brief chapter is self-contained, and covers a range of topics to do with things like collaboration, creativity, communication and practice. The book is primarily written for people interested in dance as an art form – dancers, teachers, choreographers, audiences – but will also appeal to creatives and managers who are seeking surprising or alternative ways to be inspired or challenged.
You can download it from leanpub.com. The price is up to you but we'd suggest $15.00 (about £10.60 or €12). Any profits from this book will be divided 80/20 between London charity/ artist-led space Chisenhale Dance Space and myself (hopefully to cover the cost of my materials as these were all hand drawn!).
Also, you can still get you hands on the printed version of STILL LIFE that I mentioned in my last update. People have been saying nice things, calling it: "Enlightening, funny, odd and just brilliant to have around", “Deep, soulful, complex, light, fun” and "Brilliantly broad and incisive".
It is also now available to read online at stilllifemag.org with some bonus content including an interview with undertaker Peter Abraham and a short film from the amazing Timber and Battery.
You can also sign up for early news about Issue 2 which is on its way. And you'd like to stock it let me know.
Speaking of Timber and Battery, their pop-up radio station Radio Play is popping up tomorrow Sunday 4th Feb from 5-8pm. Listen here to new works by Fionn Duffy, Murad Khan, Sam Pardes, Ed Sanders and me.
p.s. I have a robot cat that doesn't have a name and I'm looking for suggestions. 😻
