Hi

I'm doing some kind of interactive talk on 4 December at Guest Projects (in London) as part of Alt MFA's programme about The Future.

Alt MFA is a peer-led art school based in London, established in 2010 as a free alternative to studying a university-based MA Fine Art in the city. Earlier this year it received a bursary award from a-n to fund a number of strands stemming from a framework of collective research and practice themed around ‘The Future’. This includes a programme of visiting artists (like me) and expert lecturers (not me) who will lead talks, crits and workshops.

Four horsemen riding through the streets of Amsterdam in 1973 during a 'Car-Free Sunday' introduced in response to the 1970s oil crisis.

My thing is going to be called either ‘so where exactly did the future come from?’ or ‘I can see the future, so can you and here's how.’

It's a chance to think a bit more about some of the stuff I've been chewing over the last year or so. Stuff like prepping and education and transmission. And why so many artists are talking about the apocalypse.

Maybe you can imagine what this talk will be like.

You know the kind of thing.

Like how the room will be laid out, what the other people there will be like, the kind of tone and references (maybe Henri Bergson but also something dance related, and something from popular culture) and images that I’ll be using (something collapsing, someone moving slowly).

The sounds.
Maybe some of the overspills (I might stumble on my words and maybe we’ll have trouble with a projector).

Got it?

Ok so it will be enough like that for you not to worry too much but also it will be a bit different too (maybe an unexpected colour or movement) and will have more details than you can forsee so it should keep you interested too.
