TRANSFORMATIONAL STORIES

    - by Denis Odong, ACFS Director of Outreach Programs and Farming God’s Way In-Field Mentor
NIGHTY’S TRANSFORMATIONAL STORY
A report from Denis’ field visit to the partner Palabek villages and Farming God’s Way on site mentorship in Sept 2022.

This is Laker Nighty. Nighy has attended FGW a number of times and she has a very good story testimony. Holding in her hands are two big eggplants which she has grown it using Farming God’s Way (FGW). In her words '' I am in a savings group and I have never lacked money to save weekly because of the vegetables i grow''. What an inspiring story. From the sale of her vegetables she has been in position to save and buy a female goat and provide good food for her family.

Nighty attended the FGW in field refresher on the farm with our visit. She and the others said this small group setting was so impactful to their learning hands on after the larger group training with FGW Uganda in Gulu in February.  They brushed up on a lot of the reason behind the why and the how, with practicals.  They learned composting from Denis and making of natural pesticides from Samuel.

Nadine’s side note: Nighty is also a member of the Palabek bracelet micro business. Brenda trained on making these bracelets several years ago and Sue did some refining and quality control with her visit.  Many of you have bought these beautiful items and it has made a difference!
Francis' Transformational Story
This is Francis from Awal. During my field visit I was amazed by what Francis is doing. He attended FGW several times. He grows mostly sunflower for sale. Out of  the sunflower growing he has managed to save and buy cows, a motorcycle and built his house. The community CBO group also have a savings group. Everyone saves and borrows loan. For the case of Francis he managed to sell his agricultural produce, borrowed money from the loan and invested in buying cows. He currently has 9 cows, one motorcycle, 9 goats and pigs. This is a very inspirational story and Francis has proven to us that we are really touching the lives of the people of northern Uganda. This is a story of transformation.

Kampala Village Transformational Story

The chairperson of the Kampala village CBO community group is an amazing woman - meet Margaret!  She and others in this village have been coming to trainings supported by Hope 2 One Life and mentored by ACFD for many years. In the beginning their soil was poor and the maize growth stunted and grew to barely above their knee or hip. They took the Farming God’s Way training seriously and it has paid off. From start to finish with marching out their spacing for planting, imputing compost and topping with God’s blanket - mulch. Their maize grew over their heads! What happy happy farmers. Denis loves to share the gospel all, as well.  Here he instructs how to use the audio Bible solar light that is in their own Acholi language!  What a blessing. Thank you Denis!  God is good all the time. Be blessed.
