Thursday evening 30th October saw the Business Secretary, Dr. Vince Cable, meet some 60 members of the Chamber at an event held at the Mayflower Restaurant.  Following a brief resume of the British economy the Dr. Cable gave his views on the benefits of Chambers of Commerce and commented on how important it was to have a strong and vibrant Chamber such as our own in Cheltenham. Dr. Cable then fielded a variety of questions covering a wide range of local topics including, not least, the A417 and Cheltenham’s Railway Station.

Appreciation must go to owner Chun Kong of the Mayflower Restaurant for hosting this enjoyable event.

New Housing/M5 Jct. 10/Vince Cable/Events

Jon LeamonDeputy Chamber CEO

Your Chamber Executive team have continued the lobbying and negotiation work throughout the month.
We are still fighting for more employment land in the Borough. It’s all very well setting aside new sites for housing, but where are the new residents going to work? We believe that a 100 hectare industrial park near the M5 Junction 10 would go a long way to filling the gap, but only if the junction is upgraded to 4 way traffic movement.
