Chamber of Commerce AGM

The Cheltenham Chamber of Commerce will be holding its 2015 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 27 May, 5pm - 7pm at the Municipal Offices, Guest speaker Andrew North, Chief Executive, Cheltenham Borough Council, will address members, and networking opportunities and refreshments will begin at 6pm (See opposite for details; visit Chamber Events).

 The Times Cheltenham Science Festival is back to bring exciting science to people of all ages.

Speakers include Guest Director Steve Backshall, who will talk about Extreme Explorers, The Deadliest Animals on Earth, particle physicist and TV rock star Brian Cox, and Jurassic Park-advisor and inspiration for the Alan Grant character, dinosaur expert Jack Horner (see full programme; @CheltDino).


Following the competition in last month's Chamber News, the Cheltenham Festival and Cheltenham Chamber have organised another chance to win two pairs of tickets to attend the Cheltenham Science Festival.

To enter the competition, which is open to all Chamber News readers, view the Member Profile video (opposite, above right) and answer the following question: What sporting event does Paul Fong attend every year? Click here to enter your answer. All entries must be received by 12 noon, Friday 15 May; the winners be selected in a random draw, contacted by the Festival organisers on 18 May and announced in the next newsletter.

In the lead up to Dementia Awareness Week 2015 which takes place in May, Paul Gordon, a partner in Willans’ litigation and dispute resolution team whose specialisms include inheritance and trust disputes, reminds people of the importance of making a will or power of attorney. Read more.
 
Marketing calls – Fines Imposed

A first tier tribunal has upheld a monetary penalty notice for £50,000 for failure to comply with the rules on unsolicited direct marketing calls, as set out in Regulation 21 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (as amended). Read more.

Hunter Page Planning has been involved in significant planning projects in Cheltenham for the past twenty years. The latest being the new flagship BMW dealership near the A40 between Cheltenham and Gloucester. Leading Hunter Page Planning is Managing Director, Paul Fong, who prides himself on delivering high quality work for clients and having an excellent team in his growing firm. We caught up with Paul to ask about HPP's success, working with the Chamber and his advice to recent graduates entering the planning field (see video).
