Fear doesn't bring out the best in me

Not long ago I procrastinated all week on something I needed to do. Beyond not doing that task I was also not doing things around the house that needed done - easy routine things. I also wasn't showing up to my relationships the way I wanted. I wasn't taking care of myself the way I like to. Nor was I following through on the things that matter to me.

I was in a total funk for no "good reason." There was nothing physically wrong with my body and there was nothing outwardly wrong with my life that could account for this level of immobility.

What was causing this?
Fear. I was deeply afraid.

I realized that fear doesn't bring out the best in me.  This may seem like an obvious statement. We know that fear creates the fight, flight or freeze response and our body has to prepare to defend itself against danger. The only thing was that my life wasn't at risk. I didn't understand that the action I needed to take felt like a big risk and that created this fear response. It wasn't until I saw how fear in one tiny spot was affecting me in all aspects that I really understood the power that fear was having over me.

I know I'm not a special snowflake, so this fear response that had me putting things off and not living the life I designed could be what you are facing too - and you might not be aware of it.

 - If you're feeling out of integrity with yourself and your values -
 - If you're putting things off that you know are important to you -
 - If you aren't following through on the things you say you're going to do -
 - If you're not taking care of yourself for the long-term -
 - If you have things that have been on your to-do list for more than a three months -
You may be in fear.

Also, if you immediately write this off as not what's going on for you and you're convinced that fear has nothing to do with how you're showing up - you're probably in fear. #sorrynotsorry

Fear doesn't want to be seen. Because when you're aware of fear and what it looks like in your actions and how it shapes your life you have power. You can make an informed decision about whether this fear is serving you or not.

If you're not doing what you way you want to be doing I encourage you to be open to the fact that this is how fear shows up for you. To understand clearly how fear is preventing you from taking action on what you want I'm offering you a final week to get ahold of my micro-coaching program: Ready to Stop Procrastination where you'll:
  • Get clear on exactly the action you want to be taking to make the biggest difference for you

Here's what Terri had to say after her experience:

"I'm going to start by saying that Amanda is a gifted coach. She listens intently and directs the conversation with just the right questions to get to the heart of the matter.

I was challenged by some limiting beliefs that no longer aligned with who I am now and what I want in life. Amanda was able to draw those out from me and we were able to get to some major aha moments that set the stage for next steps, new beliefs, and a whole new menu of options for where I can go from here.

I'm experiencing some significant improvements in a few areas of my life and I have Amanda to thank for helping me to see a few key things I was missing, and to help me realize what I already knew.  An amazing experience. #fivestars"

Let's get you out of fear, past procrastination and changing someday to today.

"How we handle our fears will determine where we go with the rest of our lives.
To experience adventure or to be limited by the fear of it."

A good question...

What do I do (and not do) when I am afraid?
