From our field to your table. Growing Season Share 2019- Week #29
Weekly Field Notes

Farm Talk Notes from your farmer

We are on Week 29 of 32 total CSA weeks so we have 3 more after today!  After that point you will still have access to fresh produce all year long through the honor system farmstand.  Lately, most of our produce has been spoken for between CSA and our wholesale vendors but fall/winter crops are starting to size up and we should have a steady stream of produce all winter.
Last week we finally got new plastic on the greenhouse!  The forecast said the wind was supposed to only be blowing 4 or 5 mph that day but of course as soon as we got everything staged and ready to pull the wind kicked up.  Thankfully we were able to call on some extra hands and it all went smoothly.
We are starting to prep for the birthday bash this Friday!  It's supposed to be chilly but we will have several fires going as the sun set so I hope you can join us!
Urban Roots Farm Honey now available for sale in the Farmstand!  We have small squeeze bottles for $10, Pint Jars for $14, Quart Jars for $24 and Pint Jars with honeycomb for $16.

Sauteed Bok Choi (or Bak Choi depending who's spelling it)

Cammie made this for lunch and it was YUMMY!

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons safflower oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons minced ginger (from a 1-inch piece)
  • 1 medium sized Bok choi cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce, plus more for serving

Directions

  1.  Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium-high. Add garlic and ginger; cook until fragrant and golden, about 30 seconds. Add bok choy, stirring to evenly coat. Add soy sauce and 2 tablespoons water; cover and cook 2 minutes. Remove lid and continue cooking, stirring a few times, until liquid has evaporated and bok choy is tender, about 2 minutes. Season with more soy sauce, if desired, and serve.
