Community Center, Library Closed Starting Monday, March 16
City Hall Will Remain Open; Residents Should Monitor City Communications for Updates
Sunday, March 15, 2020 -- The City of Falls Church announced that the Community Center and Mary Riley Styles Public Library will be closed starting Monday, March 16, through Sunday, April 12. The facilities plan to open on Monday, April 13. City Hall will remain open.
All City staff should report to work on Monday as previously scheduled.
These closures are made with the guidance of the City's "Public Meeting & Gathering Guidance to Mitigate and Contain the Spread of COVID-19" (link). The Community Center and Library host a large number of visitors every day, and closing the buildings could help reduce opportunities for public gatherings.
As the COVID-19 situation develops, residents should monitor the City's website homepage (www.fallschurchva.gov), Facebook, and Twitter accounts for updates. Residents may also register for Falls Church Alerts (https://alert.fallschurchva.gov) to receive updates by text, email, or phone.
The City urges residents to be mindful of "Community Health" by practicing social and physical distancing. This means:
Keep a 6 foot distance from others. If you must go into public, make sure you maintain this distance.
if you go into public, it is a good idea to bring with you disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer.
No longer shake hands, hug, or otherwise make physical contact with others.
Stay home when sick.
Cover your coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue.
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds. When soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
