Assist Lyon Education staff with the organization and implementation of the Arboretum education program. Day-to-day tasks include:

Maintaining the children’s garden (trimming, weeding, planting).
Working with children in an outdoor classroom setting during field trips or outreach events.
Duties may also include video/photo production and editing, creating digital activities for curriculum enhancement, creating educational material, and creating weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote the arboretum on various social media websites.

The co-op’s agricultural processors are the lifeblood of our operations team, and manufacture products made from our farmer’s crops including ‘ulu, kalo, ‘uala, pala‘ai and more. They are responsible for carrying out procedures, policies and following the instruction and guidance of supervisors and management in a food manufacturing environment.
Part-time and full-time positions are available at our Honalo marshaling yard in Kailua-Kona. Typically, July through November is our peak ‘ulu harvest season and flexible work schedules are possible during off-season months. This position has the potential for growth in supervisory, administrative and/or management roles.

- With supervision, utilizes most current technology programs in the documentation and management of conservation plans and technical assistance by the service center.

NASA DEVELOP PROGRAM NOW OPEN!

NASA DEVELOP addresses environmental and public policy issues through interdisciplinary research projects that apply the lens of NASA Earth observations. Participants join 10-week long applied research projects, which incorporate the use of remote sensing, GIS, ecological modeling, and earth science. Teams work with partner organizations (Federal, State, NGOs etc.) to tackle real life problems and to bridge the gap between NASA Earth Science data and the public.
The Colorado DEVELOP node, which is hosted through the Evangelista Lab, is offering virtual and in-person projects this spring and welcomes you to apply for these opportunities.

UH Breakthrough Innovations Challenge + Startup Basics Workshop

PACE is pleased to host the 2022 UH Breakthrough Innovation Challenge. Registration is now open. Please encourage your students to participate. This is a great way for students who want to get their feet wet in entrepreneurship and test the feasibility of a business idea. Competitors are asked to submit a 2-minute description of their idea in video format. Qualifying finalists will be paired with a business mentor, who will help them craft a presentation for the finals. Each contestant can win up to $1,000.

Enjoy working in the outdoors? Every third Saturday (next one will be Saturday the 17th of September), volunteers meet at the Lyon arboretum's main parking lot at 8 AM. You will go over the history of Lyon and talk about the job. Volunteers are working to clear weeds to give Koa seedlings a fighting chance!
Volunteers need to bring: closed toed shoes, long sleeves/pants, a water bottle, and work gloves (extra gloves for those who need).
The section runs until 1130 am. At the end of the day, fruit or some useful plants are given to the volunteers, last time everybody got to have mangosteen!
