Nature on your Doorstep Guides

With over 30 days of nature rich adventures on offer, our new series of 10 visitor guides are great for people on a short or longer break in the area.

From Walney to Wyre, each guide focuses on a village or town hub and gives 3 days of discovery. Find out about seasonal highlights, the best nature rich places, what to do on a rainy day and where to get a culture and history fix too.

Summer Spectacles

For the first time ever, 3 osprey chicks have hatched at Foulshaw Moss nature reserve. Roudsea National Nature Reserve is also host to nesting Ospreys and its hope the chicks will hatch soon. Head to either reserve with binoculars for a great view. Take some time to marvel at the moss as it comes alive with dragonflies, damselflies and flowers.

Butterflies are a great summer highlight. The northern brown argus and scotch brown argus can be seen in July and August at WhitbarrowEggerslack Woods, near Grange, and around Arnside & Silverdale AONB.

2020 Vision street gallery is not to be missed. Visit this stunning outdoor exhibition that celebrates the awesomeness of nature! 100 powerful images of the UK's wildlife and natural habitats.See it now outside the Forum, Barrow in Furness until the end of July, when it moves to Grange over Sands for August.

Wild about woods, then head to Sizergh to explore the Woollen Woodland exhibition of over 100 woodland themed woollen art works and they let the kids try out the new wild play area.

Image Gallery 

Head to our brand new nature focused website to join the Image Gallery. Here you'll find over 80 images of nature, wildlife, historic places and landscapes. These have been brought together for businesses like you to use to showcase what's great about Morecambe Bay. You'll be asked to put in a few details, agree to the terms of use and then you'll be provided with a password. These images are free to use to promote the nature of Morecambe Bay.
