Today is RUOK day here in Australia which is a fantastic initiative founded by the late Gavin Larkin in 2009 to open up the conversation around suicide prevention.
This day is dedicated to remind people to ask their friends, family or peers the question, 'R U OK?' Just by asking this simple question you could change or even save a life.
So please take some time today (and every day) to ask someone that might be struggling if they are ok and also let them know it’s ok not to feel ok.
You can follow this simple 4 step process:
- Ask RUOK?
- Encourage Action
You really can make a difference, check in with your friends, mates, loved ones, family and anyone you think might need a helping hand.

I absolutely love this message one of my beautiful friends sent me yesterday - it is so perfect in offering support, an ear to listen, encouraging action and checking in.... (thank you Lea)
My house is a safe zone. Kettle can be on in minutes, or if you prefer a glass of something else, easily sorted. I will always do my best to be available ... you are always welcome!
Nobody is alone, there’s always someone willing to listen, go for a walk with you, take you shopping, watch a movie with you 💖 you are not bothering me or taking my time away from anything else.
YOU are important and valued, come on over.
Wishing you light and love with metta
