GONE FISHING

Well I'm off on a camping adventure in the Flinders Ranges for a couple of weeks - with the amount of rain we've had overnight - I may well be able to do a spot of fishing!
We have 3 wonderful teachers coming to look after classes - what a great opportunity to expand your practice!
I'm extremely grateful that Antonetta, Samuel and Tanya are taking time to share their experience and knowledge with you all in my absence and look forward to hearing about what you've learnt on my return! I know that all 3 teachers will welcome your input and feedback.

wishing you joy on the mat and into life

Antonetta Russo

Having taken my first yoga class for fun in 1998 in Melbourne, I continued to attend classes casually at various Gyms and community centres until 2003 when I moved to Sydney and a friend introduced me to a local dedicated Yoga studio.  Even though I always enjoyed yoga class, I didnt know exactly why and it took a committment to regular practice to begin to understand what was transpiring.  Having always been a loner and quite melancholic, I started feeling unexplainably happy.  This internal joy started building as did my confidence and zest and soon I was smiling at strangers, socialising at the bus stop, and making new friends everywhere.  The walls came down and I finally felt like I had arrived in the world.  Life was somehow elevated and I could manage whatever the day threw at me.  I wanted to share this feeling with everyone.  In 2006 I started training with Acharya Upendra Roy in Classical Hatha Yoga.  Transitioning from student to teacher was a tumultuous journey.  I realised how little I actually knew about the yoga that was teaching me so much about myself.  So when I moved back to Adelaide in 2008 it was time to get out of yoga nappies and get serious.  I found excellent teachers locally and oseas that could offer real wisdom philosophically and in practice.  With these relationships began a committment of ongoing daily study and a life committment to learn, live and practice the Yoga way of Life.

Samuel Grant

Sam came to yoga through joyful creative flows and was captivated by the stillness found in their wake. These qualities are found in his teaching style which encompasses rhythmic moving meditations balanced with a softening into exploration of the internal body. Movement has been his medicine and he hopes to share his love of exploring the body and mind with all who take his classes. He trained in a hatha yoga style with both Emily Kuser's High Vibe yoga school and the Embodied Flow school led by Tara Judelle and Scott Lyons. Of all the lessons learnt though his journey into the world of yoga the one which resonated most deeply has been to begin everything with love.

Tanya Bingham

Tanya Bingham is a yoga teacher living in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, raising four beautiful children together with her husband. The eternal student, she is always looking to what can be experienced, reflected and learnt in life through yoga.

Tanya’s past work in injury management and rehabilitation consultancy together with extensive volunteer work have cultivated a genuine joy to serve and support, and this same sense of dasya and sakhya (servitude and friendship) can be found when she teaches.

Tanya initially began yoga as a means of physical wellbeing, but soon discovered the vast wellspring of resources yoga has to offer for cultivating and maintaining balance in our modern often hectic lives. Yoga brought strength, ease, flexibility and joy – physically, mentally, in everyday life – and ignited a dedication to study and share the practice of yoga.

Tanya has practiced a number of yoga styles including vinyasa, ashtanga, iyengar and hatha, and is very grateful to have received extensive private lessons from a skilled teacher in her early years of practice.
Tanya’s training includes 2 trips to Shanti Mandir on the north-west coast of India, for a profound depth of study and concentrated practice in an environment that imbibes the living path of yoga. She is a Level 1 (200hr), Level 2 (300hr) and Level 3 (175hr Post Grad Meditation & Yoga Psychology) certified yoga teacher, and has assisted in an additional 800+hrs of teacher trainings and retreats.
