The Hatcham Society

The Hatcham Society would like your ideas on how to improve Hatcham. The council's NCIL fund (a developer infrastructure levy) is worth £400k for New Cross Ward and we can apply for this for improvements to the area. As usual, I have left it super late, and the deadline is this Sunday (November 21st). If you have any ideas, please do let me know now - you can respond to this email.

Please note, the NCIL can't cover political lobbying or things that the council should be already doing - such as more bin collections.

One idea is to improve the design of the entrance to Harts Lane to make it more accessible for wheelchair users/cyclists - currently, there is a drop of 15cm from the pavement to the road, making it impossible for wheelchair users to access. This lack of accessibility is unacceptable for a road that is supposedly part of the cycle network.  We'd also like to see a Bike Hangar there and a plant container going around the tree to turn it into a worthwhile entrance for Harts Lane.

We will also push for more street trees in Hatcham too - let me know if there are any particular locations you'd like to see a street tree! Just reply to this email!

We also hoped to apply for funding to make  the Sainsburys crossing safer for pedestrians, but I do not believe the NCIL funding will cover this as it is a TFL junction.
The Music Room, the fabulous rehearsal and venue have recently installed a new bar! Go along and support this fabulous space. They have lots of gigs happening from now until Christmas, so take a look on their website:
The fabulous Hatcham House (a lovely and inviting co-working space in 367 Queen's Rd) are putting in a NCIL bid for adapting the  derelict post office on New Cross Road into a maker's space for local creatives - a place to plot, design and be nurtured. Have a look at his ideas here and email him your thoughts.
