All Glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga!

The Hare Krishna Mahamantra—it is very difficult to understand how it is supreme. It is there in the highest, intimate Pastimes of Radha and Krishna, and it is also there to rescue the most fallen souls

— Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Maharaj

Dear devotees and friends of the Ashram,

Please join us for the very auspicious celebrations of Sri Lalita Saptami, the appearance day of Srimati Lalita Devi on Thursday September 12th and Sri Radhastami, the grand festival for the appearance day of Srimati Radharani on Friday September 13th.

Srila Janardan Maharaj has said, “This will be a big festival and everyone is invited to both of our temples, our San Jose Ashram and the Santa Cruz Ashram. We got the title to our property on Radhastami; it was delivered to us on that day so it is a special day for us Soquelites." Srila Janardan Maharaj will be celebrating the festivals in China this year and Sripad Sarvabhavana Prabhu will be leading the programs in Santa Cruz. I hope you will be able to honor these special days with us.

Yours in the Lord's service,
Sushila devi dasi

"A hint of the particular standard of Srimati Lalita Devi's service has been given by Srila Rupa Goswami:

radha-mukunda-pada-sambhava-gharmmabindu
nirmmanchanopakarane krta-deha-laksyam

When Lalita Devi finds a drop of perspiration at the feet of Sri Sri Radha-Govinda, she furiously engages herself to remove it. "How has it come there? We are circumambulating Them to see that not the least pain can enter this domain to trouble Them. But how without our notice has this perspiration appeared? Perspiration, perspiration! So she is furiously chastising herself, and wants to immediately take birth one lakh (100,000) times - with that force she comes to remove that drop of perspiration from the lotus feet of either of the Divine Couple."

"Many times Srila Guru Maharaj explained and praised Krishna-lila, and every time he would give us some clue: we must follow the service mood of Lalitadevi.

Lalitadevi's mood is twenty-four hours a day continuous service, and such mood spreads throughout her group. Not only that, but all groups are enlightened by the service of Lalitadevi. So, it is necessary to get their mercy and it is possible only by the grace of our Srila Guru Maharaj - and not by any other way. This is because he commands the position of the Holder of the Rupanuga Sampradaya. He is the super servitor of Lalitadevi, and that servitor is Srimati Rupa Manjari. Sriman Mahaprabhu gave charge of His Sampradaya to Srila Rupa Goswami. In this way we are connected, and we must one day fulfil our divine aspiration for their service. This is our only hope."

Lalita Saptami San Jose.mp3 (29 minutes, 19.9 MB)

An excerpt from the lecture:

"This is the favorite day of Srila Gurudev…. We’ve heard him say how Lalita Saptami was in his personal opinion more exclusive than Radhastami. More specific. We are in the line of Lalita Devi and anyone who has connection to Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj and his mission through Srila Gurudev and our acharyas will automatically go to the service group of Lalita Devi….

It’s a very exclusive day that we observe with care and attention. Some cautiousness…. We take our Gurudev’s lotus feet on our head and try to remember the glories he shared with us and pray not to make any offense in the attempt…. In Gurudev’s language she is the chief super-guardian of the service and the pastimes of Radha and Govinda."

The Mahamantra:

Hare Krishna
Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna
Hare Hare
Hare Rama
Hare Rama
Rama Rama
Hare Hare

What is Gurudeva doing? He is giving service to Krishna. For the satisfaction of Krishna he gives us a rope to rescue us, and he takes us as a flower-offering to the lotus feet of Krishna.

— Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Maharaj

Just run—and don’t look back—whether your eyes are open or closed it does not matter, you won’t fall down.

We cannot guess from here how much joy and ecstasy is there in our home, how much happiness and enjoyment.

— Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Maharaj

When the Supreme is far away and His qualities cannot be seen, He is known as the effulgent impersonal Brahman. When He enters the heart and stands before one’s eyes, He is known as Krishna.
— Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur

trnad api sunicena

“One who is humbler than a blade of grass, more forbearing than a tree who gives due honour to others without desiring honour for himself is qualified to always chant the Holy Name of Krishna.”

— Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu
