The Life Skills Mentorship Program is a unique learning experience where we believe that every student has the right to achieve their full potential. Our intention is to provide a safe, supportive environment, built on high expectations that can inspire a student to thrive. A place where students will build their confidence and start to believe that they can and will succeed. Through this program, students will learn social-emotional learning (SEL) skills. These SEL skills are designed to teach students the necessary skills to resist social (peer) pressures, develop greater self-esteem and self-confidence, and enhance their decision-making and problem-solving skills. Our goal is to improve school success, increase academic confidence, motivation, and social skills, and build personal connections. We hope to implement this program again in the next academic school year 2022-2023 to connect and give other students the opportunity to join this amazing program! | | Free Bike Repair Workshops Will Continue to the End of May! | Our free bike repair workshops are still ongoing and will continue until the last full week of May. PUSD students can learn how to fix and maintain a bicycle twice a week at the La Pintoresca Teen Education Center. Not sure how to fix a flat tire or adjust your brakes, come to the teen center on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3-5 PM and we’ll show you how. There’s no registration or RSVP required. Bring your bike if you have one, but you don’t have to bring a bike to join the workshop and learn with us. Students who need community service hours can earn hours by helping to fix donated bikes. Participants are also eligible to win a bike. The teen center is located at 1415 N Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103 at La Pintoresca Park. Contact: colin@godayone.org |

| | | Walking School Buses & Bike Trains Continue to the End of May | The Walking School Buses (WSB) and Bike Trains at Blair, Longfellow, Madison, Marshall, Muir, Washington ES and Washington MS are up and running and will continue until the end of May. Students at these schools are invited to join. Check our website at https://www.godayone.org/activetransportation for details. A walking school bus is a group of students walking to school together with adult supervision. A bike train is the same idea, but on bicycles. Students who walk or roll to school get some healthy physical activity, show up to school more alert and ready to learn, and help to save the planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions that come from cars. This is part of our Safe Routes to School program with PUSD and Pasadena DOT. For more information, contact your school’s community advocate/assistant or colin@godayone.org. |
