Nurses vigil tonight: Tonight nurses across New Zealand and Australia are invited to be part of an on-line vigil at 7pm, honouring health workers across the world who have lost their lives through treating and caring for people with COVID-19. Today is especially relevant as it is International Nurses Day, almost the halfway point in what has been named by the World Health Organisation as the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.  Thank you to the NZNO for organising this way to honour our lost health workers, and to celebrate the tremendously important role all of our health workers play, not only during this difficult time but always. More information is here, and the Facebook event is here, please join and share.

Celebrating our nurses: To help celebrate International Nurses Day, a raft of nurses from across Hawke's Bay in a whole range of roles have been profiled by our Health Hawke's Bay and District Health Board communications teams. Those profiles and a press release were sent to media yesterday, and Kieran Nicholson from Central Medical Practice was chosen by media to star in today's Hawke's Bay today. The press release is here and the profiles are here. The version sent to media did include photos for each one, however we have left them off this message so it does not crash your email systems. Enjoy!

More flu vaccine: We have been advised today that 100,000 Afluria Quad vaccines have been released in New Zealand and are available for providers to order from Healthcare Logistics (HCL). The 60-dose order limit remains in place to ensure that all providers have the opportunity to order. All multiple orders equal to 120 doses or less per provider will be automatically released for distribution. Orders over the 120 will be reviewed by the Ministry of Health and HBDHB immunisation co-ordinator Fiona Jackson. If you need large amounts of vaccine, please contact Fiona in the first instance: 027 2436572.

Level 2 webinar: A one-hour Health Care Home webinar, Change management and general practice, is scheduled for this Thursday, May 14, at 5.30pm. Dr Jeff Lowe (GPNZ chairman; HCHC clinical lead) and Nicky Hart (Fielding Health Care chief executive) will discuss the practical changes that come with this week's move to Level 2. That section will be followed by a discussion on supporting Telehealth gathering consumer voices and more.
There is a limit of 100 people able to view live, however the recording will be made available on the HCHC YouTube channel and website within 24 hours.
