Issue 11

Sutton Mental Health Foundation

February is the month of love!
But always remember to love yourself first.

Lockdown 3 seems endless, but we have a range of new activities and ways to keep everyone feeling positive.

SMHF has teamed up with Sutton Council to launch the Sutton Wellbeing Line, a freephone number offering support and a chat if you are feeling in need of someone to talk to - just call 0800 012 9105  Monday - Friday, 10am - 2pm.

We are also offering 12 weeks of free Wellbeing Activities - weekly Coffee Mornings online (Tuesdays 11.30 - 12.30); Art for Wellbeing (Mondays 6pm - 8pm) starting 8th February; and Drama on line (Tuesdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm) starting 16th February.

This month's Signpost Sutton Session looks at Recovery, and we continue to offer Mindfulness, Yoga and our OCD support group online.  And don't forget our final Crisis Café consultation event taking place on 25th February.

If you have skills in Publisher and are looking to do some volunteering, do check out our Voyager Volunteer Opportunity.

In the meanitme, please keep safe and keep following the lockdown rules,

Crisis Cafe update

Work on the crisis café continues; we have had a great response to our consultation with over 180 responses to our surveys. Plans are underway to develop a service that reflects the needs and wishes of local people.  We are wating to hear the results of a funding bid to NHS England, and once we have confirmed funding we will be able to start work in earnest.  In the meantime, please join us on Thursday 25th February, 11.30 - 1pm on Zoom, for our final consultation event to look at defining what is a crisis, and how we can make sure everyone who needs to know about the Crisis Café finds out about it.

Sutton Wellbeing line

Sutton Mental Health Foundation is working with Sutton Council to run Sutton Wellbeing Line - a dedicated freephone line running 20 hours a week, which residents can call if they need someone to talk to.

Sometimes just talking to someone can be really helpful; our staff are here to listen and offer support. We can also put you in touch with other organisations who may be able to help if that is what is needed.

Just call 0800 012 9105
Mon - Fri, 10am - 2pm

Telephone appointments at SMHF

If you need support, we are open for telephone appointments Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 10:30 am to 2:30pm. During these times you can also call us for support.

For more information you can call 020 8770 0172. We hope to return to face to face appointments and activities in the near future, depending on the changing situation – so keep watching this space.

Book an appointment
If you need specialist help or advice, for example with benefits or housing, family matters, debt or employment issues, you can book a 50 minute telephone appointment for advice. Appointments are available on Thursdays, 10am to 1pm, in partnership with Citizens Advice Sutton.

Volunteer Opportunity

We are looking for someone to join our Voyager magazine team and help with producing the quarterly issues.

The Voyager Magazine is written, compiled, and edited by service users. It provides a comprehensive and regularly updated directory of local mental health services as well as entertaining articles, opinion pieces, recipes, quizzes, art and poetry.

We are in need of a volunteer with excellent IT and, in particular, Publisher skills to layout each issue of the magazine and work with the editorial team.  If you think this could be you, or you would like more information, please contact Ovie on or leave a message on 020 8770 0172
