Australian Design Group
Officially incorporated in 1991, Australian Design Group has a rather long history in the industry of War Games. But just recently in 2020, Guinness Book of World Records awarded Australian Design Group the title of "Biggest Board Game Commercially Available." That honor was won for their Collector's Edition re-release of 1985's multi-award winning classic war game and their biggest claim to fame, World In Flames.
Which means, of course, that ADG has been going strong since well before 1985! Their original founding crew of Canberra game enthusiasts joined together with the goal of re-releasing Empires In Arms. Initially designed by Harry Rowland when he was 13, Empires In Arms had been lying moribund for years when it was resurrected by Greg and Harry in 1980 and then worked on by them both (and others) for the next 3 years. With much trepidation, Empires In Arms was finally published in 1983. To ADG's surprise it proved an almost instant success, receiving a nomination for Game of the Year at Origins '84. It was licensed to the Avalon Hill Game Company and published in 1985, and is still selling strongly around the world.
Australian Design Group then went on to produce its international smash hit, World In Flames, winning Game of the Year, State of the Art, Best 20th Century Game and Game of the Decade awards. Since then, ADG has produced titles like Days of Decision, World Cup Football, and numerous World In Flames kits.
Its an honor and privilege to have a direct relationship with this respected company, and to carry both their newest titles, their Collector's Editions, vintage out-of-print editions, and more. If you're a war gamer and you don't own an Australian Design Group game, it's time to give them a well-aimed shot!
