Hello School Board Members and Superintendents,
You are invited to our first meeting of the school year on Thursday, October 1, 2020, 5:30 to 7:00 pm on Zoom.
Our program topic is:
Institutionalizing Equity: Shifting the view of Equity to a lens that informs all of our work in schools
Our speaker will be Ashlee Gutierrez, Equity Coordinator for San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Ashlee has been a teacher and assistant principal in Oakland Unified School District and a principal in Richmond. She is an equity-centered educational leader with 10 years of progressive leadership experience in the development and oversight of academic programs, policies, and initiatives to promote student growth and achievement. Under her leadership, her schools have increased teacher retention to 100%, decreased chronic absenteeism to under 10%, reduced referrals by 70%, lowered behavioral infractions by 15%, and reduced disproportionality on every academic data metric for all subgroups. She is currently working on earning an Ed.D. in International and Multicultural Education with an emphasis in human rights and critical race theory. She joined San Ramon Valley USD in July and is cultivating liberatory learning experiences for students through designing anti-racist curriculum, curating reflective and comprehensive professional learning, auditing policies and procedures, and building inclusive communities for all. The program will include time for discussion and will include some resources to take back to your school district for further discussion and exploration related to equity. If you have an equity lead in your school district, you are welcome to invite them too.
The meeting will be held on Zoom. Register in advance. Immediately after registering, you'll be emailed a unique-to-you URL to join the Zoom meeting, from email@example.com. We recommend that you add that link to your calendar to allow you to easily join the meeting.
Prior to the program, the CCCSBA Board of Representatives (comprised of one representative from each of the member school boards) will have a very brief business meeting. The agenda with links to the minutes and financial report will be emailed separately to the representatives by Wednesday evening. The member page of our website lists all the school board members by district and denotes the CCCSBA representative from each member board. Please take a quick look at this list and confirm if we have the correct representative listed. If there is an error, kindly email firstname.lastname@example.org with the correction.
If you are the representative from your district, please sign on to Zoom at 5:30pm.
The program will begin at 5:40pm.
