Inspired by the California coast, the 3rd annual Wine & Design event took place at Newport Dunes on October 24th. Designers, manufacturers, sales reps and others from the furnishings industry came together to raise funds for the Common Thread for the Cure Foundation, an organization that aids in enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
This year, Encore sponsored San Diego-based design firm Ware Malcomb in the event's signature wine label design competition with Russian River Vineyards, the partnering winery for the event. Wines featuring the winning labels are currently available for purchase on Russian River Vineyards' website, with a percentage of proceeds benefiting the Common Thread for the Cure. Sales from a silent auction and raffle also went to the cause, helping Wine & Design raise over $35,000 to date.

Pixie: Mixing Creative Modernity with Versatility
As delightful as its name implies, Pixie is a multifunctional collection of stools perfect for any gathering. A non-directional seating design makes them universally comfortable, and an assortment of brightly colored metal finishes offer a little something for everyone.
Pixie marks Encore’s second collaboration with Qdesign, an award-winning collective from Chicago known for their quirky, high-quality industrial design. Their inventiveness is highlighted by Pixie’s alternating seat shapes - round for low stools, triangular on bar-height - that complement each other and can be used in a wide-range of spaces.
Despite the unfortunately-timed government shutdown, NeoCon East still managed to draw a crowd, with over 6,400 attendees coming out to browse the latest and greatest from more than 250 exhibitors. Visitors to the Encore space were introduced to several new product collections, including Visor lounge and Pinnacle executive, as well as Pixie and Wake stools. Collaboration was the theme with an intermixing of products from the Encore, Encore On-Q and Arcadia brands.
Along with perusing new products, attendees (and exhibitors) were encouraged to participate in NeoCon East: Design Can Help, a canned food drive benefiting the Maryland Food Bank.
