Scout Fair

Saturday, April 6, 9am - 3pm at El Capitan High School
Come out and support the council.
We will need some volunteers to work the ESAA booth at the fair, we have two hour shifts, 9-11, 11-1, 1-3. Please email here if you would like to work a shift and which one.

ESAA Auction Dinner

One of the ways we support the council, is the ESAA sponsors a dutch oven dinner and music package to be auctioned off at the council's annual fund raising auction. John Shotwell brings his dutch ovens out and cooks a meal for the purchaser, and 10 of their closest friends, of this dinner and Greg & Janet Deering of Deering banjos bring out a couple of friends and play banjo music. John could use some help with preparation and cooking along with serving on Wednesday, March 13, around 5pm at the Youth Aquatic Center. Distinguished Eagle Scout, Admiral Charles Wurster has purchased this dinner for himself and the council Sea Scout committee. Please let John know if you can help by emailing him here. We try to have the servers all wear black shirts.

President's message:

Hello Eagle Scouts,

It is already March and Spring is close at hand.  This rain is helping to end our drought. Speaking of HELP…   This third month of the year reminds me that the third point of the Scout Law is:  A Scout is HELPFUL.  Your support and help within ESAA is very much appreciated and needed!  We depend on your assistance in the upcoming Scout Fair and the Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner events next month.  Do put these dates on your calendar, please, and plan to assist at Scout Fair on April 6th.  (also help is need on Friday, the day before, with set up at El Capitan High School in the morning from 8 a.m. until completion).  Please let us know what hour(s) you can assist in the ESAA booth between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  The Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner needs us to be sponsors and to recruit sponsors for the event on April 30 at St. Michael's Church in Poway.  As a sponsor you sit with a young Eagle Scout and share your career experiences and hear his life’s ambition.  We try to pair up the Eagle Scout with someone in his field of career interest.  Please see above for link to register
This past month we presented the Charles "Chuck" Smith Scoutmaster of the Year award to Mike Byerline, Scoutmaster of troop 324. Congratulations, Mike on your selection!
At the Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner we will present a certificate from National to the selectee of the Eagle Project of the Year for San Diego Imperial Council.  His name and project have been forwarded to Region for their consideration and if his is the top project in the region, then he will be entered into National consideration.  We will announce his name in the next issue of this newsletter in April.
You are all welcome at our monthly meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 7:10 a.m. at Atherton Hall.  Hope to see you there.
Good Scouting to you and thanks for your support!

Yours in Scouting
Dan Mazzella

Mission Statement

The purpose of the San Diego - Imperial Council Eagle Scout Alumni Association (ESAA) is to support and enlarge the success of the Boy Scout movement and build fellowship among adult Eagles in San Diego and Imperial Counties. The ESAA achieves this purpose, by recruiting as many adult Eagle Scouts as possible to become Scouting volunteers, by supporting activities within the Council that promote the Scouts' advancement along the Trail to Eagle and by giving recognition to the young men who earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
