It is my hope that each of you have had a very enjoyable and productive Scouting summer. The World Scout Jamboree was hosted at The Summit this summer, and our own Paul Honeycutt led the San Diego contingent. Paul will be sharing Jamboree highlights at the upcoming September Board meeting.
The ESAA Board decided to take advantage of the otherwise “off” month of July to conduct our annual planning meeting. Scouts Honor the Board overwhelmingly decided it was a great tactical move to have the annual planning meeting in July. Our own Greg Deering hosted the meeting and the Board was treated to a tour of his facility with an inside story about the Zombie Banjo.
The July planning meeting produced resolutions consist with our motto of “Building to Serve.” ESAA is providing the leadership role to the Boy Scouts partnership with I Love A Clean San Diego. On September 21, 2019 ESAA is partnering with I Love A Clean San Diego to work on the North section of Camp Balboa from 9:00 a.m. to noon. I Love A Clean San Diego designed special patches for the event because they know how much Scouts like patches. They also prepared work service certificates for volunteers. There will be a hosted BBQ following the work party.
The Board also decided to supply SAG support at water and food stations for recreational 5k runs around the county. In return the race organizers have agreed to donate funds back to Scouts. The Board viewed this proposal as a win win situation. ESAA provides a goodwill public profile for scouting, and raises funds for doing the good deed.
We used the summer to reboot, refocus, and recharge our energy for a strong end of year. We will be sending out notices for these upcoming events. We hope you can join us. Otherwise you just may never hear the inside story about the zombie killer Banjo.

The purpose of the San Diego - Imperial Council Eagle Scout Alumni Association (ESAA) is to support and enlarge the success of the Boy Scout movement and build fellowship among adult Eagles in San Diego and Imperial Counties. The ESAA achieves this purpose, by recruiting as many adult Eagle Scouts as possible to become Scouting volunteers, by supporting activities within the Council that promote the Scouts' advancement along the Trail to Eagle and by giving recognition to the youth who earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
