Feedback on Teaching: Through class visits and surveys, we have streamlined processes for getting meaningful student feedback and putting it to use in teaching.

Educational Components of Grants: Whether at the proposal or implementation stage, CTLO has effective educational outreach and "broader impacts" models to assist.

Innovations: CTLO advises faculty on new teaching technologies and approaches, and helps gather data to see what works. Recent projects include tablet-based learning in computer science, genetics, and chemistry courses, as well as online teaching (MOOCs and more).

Prof. Maria Spiropulu commented that her CTLO-run midterm feedback survey "had an effect because the students felt empowered  by being heard during the course and not after the end…the hope is this catches on."

Prof. Dianne Newman also found that "the midterm feedback survey was a truly meaningful readout of the class, far more effective than other approaches I have tried."

Prof. Antonio Rangel: “Without the help of the CTLO, I would not have been able to begin exploring [online teaching] opportunities, much less to have offered a successful MOOC. Center staff made a difference at every stage: from teaching me how to teach in this new online space, to providing in-depth assistance during the growing pains of these new technologies.”

Bateman Postdoctoral Instructor in Mathematics, Dr. Chris Marx: Talking with CTLO about my video recorded class "allowed me to experience my teaching through the students’ eyes.  --> (cont.)
