To enable us to fully consider the dredge disposal permit application from North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation, we have delayed our decision under the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act until 31 January 2014.

Over summer we ramp up our reef health monitoring as this time of year poses a greater risk of coral bleaching, extreme weather and flooding.

Welcome to our new Reef Guardians, Rollingstone State School. Our Reef Guardian program now includes more than 300 schools, as well as 14 councils and many farmers, graziers and commercial fishers working to protect the health of the Great Barrier Reef.

Tourism operators are reminded that payment of the Environmental Management Charge with the charging return and logbook sheets (where applicable) for the 1 October to 31 December quarter is due by 31 January.
